Hi,

So in a nutshell I am having an issue with my AA. I only fly the NGX so I thought I would post this here and no one else seems to know anything anywhere else either. I have a pecular issue here in that my AA is working through inspector but not as well as it should. For the longest time I was running 8xS no TA and had an aceptable apearance. There was some shimmering on the scenery and the borders of the displays but the displays themselves, the wings, speedbrake handle, etc were very nice, no perceptible jagged lines or shimmering. It was a you really had to look sort of thing. Then all of a sudden after installing the 301 driver about 3 weeks ago I had a major problem. For some reason my fps was down to 6 and this AA problem began. Thinking I has a bad install I did a clean install back to 296 removing all nvidia files in between, etc. To no avail, although my performance was back to normal. I have all my inspector setting set up just like the reccomended way here but the AA has seriously downgraded. I have tried 4 different drivers and no luck. I am AAing to a certain extent but not how it should be and some aspects of scenery are terrible.

I even went so far as reinstalling clean my OS and FSX+addons from scratch. This is after trying everything else. I even upgraded to the GTX580 (planned on doing that anyway) and am very happy with it. The new card was the best thing that has every happened to FSX performance short of the computer build. To my dismay, after installing everything, I am still having this issue. Banding on the NGX displays in the black area, jagged lines on the ND and PFD's. I can barely read the numbers on the FO's displays and I am running 8xSQ and 4SGSS. This setting should be far better than when I was running 8xS before when everything worked but it is worse. When I up the AA's many objects improve but what never improves much are the above said objects in the VC and wings but also the edges of buildings and especially runway borders, taxi lines and centerline stripes. It seems to be a particular set of graphics that is not receiving the AA as well as it should.Tthe shimmering on tree's and terrain (or jaggedness) is nonexistent. However I am getting the performance hit from the higher levels as is normal.

I do not know why it was working great berfore and even though I did a clean reinstall of my OS and FSX this issue has not gone away. It is driving me nuts. I have spent a couple thousand dollars and recently 450 bucks on a new video card and I am worse off than before by far.

I was anal about the reinstall of everything following the excellent guides over a Simforums. It took forever, rebooting in between every install. FSX AA in unchecked but when I go in and check it no change so this is all comming from inspector. I know this is not normal so what on earth can I do to fix this? Currently I am back on the 301 driver but different drivers have no effect.

I am at witts end.

Thanks for any help.

You can see in these pictures the rendering is not the quality that should be depicted at 8xSQ and 4SGSS.

It is hard to see with sthe stills but believe me when in the sim and my Ezdok head moving around it all shimmers like crazy.

There is your problem!! No mystery! Roll back to whatever driver you were using and be happy.

The latest is *NOT* the greatest, especially when it comes to nVidia drivers.

Best regards,

Robin.

U forgot to read the part where he says he did roll back to the previous driver, Marc have u tried a system restore to the point before u installed the new driver

Robin, his next sentence says he did a clean install back to his previous version that was working well. He got the performance back but not the quality. I think he's eliminated the 301 problem.

Edit: # 5 came in while I was typing. At least this is an active post.
