June 2, 201214 yr I would like to use VC mode for the forward view and and the same time display some 2d panels/instruments like the PFD on a secondary monitor. I've been using this kind of setup with several a/c:s over the years but I can't get this to work as I want with the NGX (SP1C). The problem can be easily reproduced by being in Virtual Cockpit mode and activating the main 2d panel (shift+1). The 2d panel pops up but it's just a static image, the instruments don't get updated. When switching to regular Cockpit mode (2d), the instruments on the 2d panel comes alive and it works as expected. When switching back to VC mode, the instruments on the 2d panel immediately freezes and stops updating again. Compare this behaviour to e.g. the default 737-800 (or any other a/c that I've tried) where both types of instruments are updated when in VC mode. If I however use VC mode and click on e.g. the PFD to make it popup as a 2d window, it will keep on working in either 2d or VC mode. So basically I can achieve what I want but it requires some really boring manual click/resize/drag/arrange of several instruments everytime I create a new flight. I noticed the problem after having created a custom 2d panel with the PFD and a few other instruments (it only worked when in 2d mode). Does this happen only to me because I've broken something? Or is it a feature (for performance?) or a bug? Is there another way to achieve what I want? For the record I'm using fullscreen mode but using windowed mode makes no difference.
June 5, 201214 yr Hi, I'm using: - the VC over 3 screens with a matrox. - a panel with MCP, PFD, ND, chrono,CDU,... on a 4th screen (2d) - a panel with EICAS, gear, flaps, radio,... on a 5th screen (2d) - a panel with the overhead panels on it on a §th screen. No problem at all. Best Regards, Bert Van Bulck
June 5, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the info, I guess the problem is on my side then. I made a complete uninstall/reinstall of the NGX but it made no difference. Thinks like the MCP/radios etc seems to update correctly in any cockpit mode, it just seems to be the PFD/ND/EICAS that freezes. I'll keep on trying.
June 5, 201214 yr http://support.preci...en-it-with.aspx I can select all 2d panels in VC with no problem, except for main panel. I understand that without trackIR other hardware/programs shift+X are useful in VC, but what's the reason of using 2D main panel with VC together? Rostyslav S Wanna fly 737NGX with turbulence?
June 5, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the link, I hadn't found that one but it seems to be relevant for my issue. The main reason for me to use this setup is because I would like to use some of the features in ezdok that only works in VC mode and at the same time display some 2d panels (not the entire main panel) on separate monitors. I think I can find an alternative solution though.
June 5, 201214 yr Use this to set your popup 2D panels, once you set them up once, it takes all the work out of it... http://janvaane.org/virtualfsx/?p=34 Jay
