June 3, 201214 yr Moderator Some folks have asked where the "First Unread Post" function is now. If you look closely at the screenshot below, you'll notice that all unread posts are highlighted in soft blue in the leftmost column. There is a dark blue dot icon in the leftmost column as well... ...clicking on that blue dot will take you immediately to the "First Unread Post" in that thread. If there is a blue star instead of a dot, that means that you've made at least one reply in that thread. In the center of the screen note the black circle with a white down-arrow. Clicking on that will allow you to "Preview" the thread without opening it. That makes it quick and easy to see if there's anything of interest for you. Folks, there's a wealth of functionality built into this new forum software. Don't be stuck with old habits, but be brave and explore! :Peace: Fr. June 3, 201214 yr Thank you for the screenshot and the detailed explanation. In my other post I started off by saying in jest that we need a "Avsim for Dummies" guide. Your post reinterates that. In all of the various forums that I visit I have never seen the "First Unread Post" link outside of the actual thread! I have to say that is odd and even here at Avsim it use to be inside of the thread. In addition I did not know what the black arrows were. Yes I could exiperiment but when you come someplace for almost 18 years you're simply use to doing things a certain way. With all of the major changes that have taken place recently having to re-learn those ways without any instruction is difficult to say the least. Thanks again for pointing out those features. Todd
June 4, 201213 yr Author Moderator You are most welcome, Todd. Actually, having the "Blue Dot" to take you to the "First Unread Post" makes good sense being where it is, since it will take you immediately to the desired reply... Note also that everything "clickable" on the screen has a popup tooltip describing what it does. There actually is a sort of "Dummies Guide" here at AVSIM... ...at the bottom of every page there is a Help link. Click on the Topic: Topics and Forums This topic describes and illustrates all of the various Icons, and how they may be used. Fr.
