June 13, 201213 yr Is there any way when flight planning to insert a SID such that the ATC recognises it ? I can insert the route and SID into the FMC, but ATC doesn't recognise it. Is that asking too much ? When requesting IFR clearance, it would be nice to have it include the SID, along with "cleared to xxxxxxx", "climb and maintain yyyy". June 13, 201213 yr You can save out a flight plan in FSX format from most FMCs (with the SID and STAR attached), and then load that back into FSX so that FSX sees the waypoints. Alternatively, in the default FS planner you can load your plan then drag the magenta line onto nav aids which a procedure uses, which will get FS ATC to recognise them as part of your route, but it won't actually say things like 'Via the ASHAT approach' or whatever. It works in either the default ATC, or with things like Radar Contact. That way the default FS ATC does not start vectoring you for an approach when you are still 200 miles away from the airport LOL Not an ideal solution of course, but better than nothing and it is what I do, by saving out a plan from AivlaSoft's EFB with the procedures on it, and then pulling that back into Radar Contact and the FMC, so that FSX, the aircraft, and Radar Contact are all effectively 'on the same page'. June 14, 201213 yr There's also the option of flying online with real humans as ATC. The quality is usually very good in my experience, ATC understand sids and stars, position reports, holds etc. Pretty much exactly like real life. And on top of that its free! Easily the best addon for FSX in my opinion Johan Pettersen
June 14, 201213 yr You could also use VoxATC wich know of both SID and STAR and HOLD plus you talk to it via a microphone like to the real ATC. You can download the product and try it for free in a seven day period. www.voxatc.com Kind regards Peter
June 14, 201213 yr Commercial Member I'm with Johann. The default ATC is dismal, and takes a lot of work to get it to accept reality. Kyle Rodgers
June 15, 201213 yr Commercial Member Default FSX ATC has no actual knowlege of SIDs or STARs and it's especially problematic with STARs where it'll want to vector you from really far out instead of letting you follow the arrival, even if you have the waypoints in your flightplan.
