Featured Replies

I read in another thread to reduce the size of this setting but first of all I would like to know what's it's purpose in FS2k4??? :-hmmm TERRAIN_MAX_DEM_AREA=100.000000Thanks...

I guess it is the maximum area FS processes the mesh. At the highest level you can see elevation changes up to a distance of 100 miles or so. I have mine set a lot lower as I am reducing the visibility to 50 miles anyway with ActiveSky.Alex

Thanks guys... I think I'll keep my default settings, I prefer to see my terrain mesh in the distance...

What are your settings, out of curiousity? I was of the impression that FS stopped displaying addon mesh and defaulted to it's own low-res mesh at some defined distance regardless of settings anyway. Am I wrong about that? Thanks!sg

The default (my settings) are what I above. You may be right but some say lowering this setting improves FPS. From my experiance the only thing that's going to help you is using FSW's clouds and disableing the extra autogen that produces the barns and lightpoles.
