TrackIR brought me a 'new' plane: the Stearman!

Featured Replies

I never really liked the Stearman and hardly flew it up to now. After buying rudder pedals I gave the plane another try and it was easier to fly with those pedals for me, but I just couldn't get used to the view on the panel... I felt trapped somehow. Not nice.

This evening I did my first flight with the Stearman and TrackIR, one of those sightseeing jobs, and I have to say... that plane is a BLAST!!! I love it now! Being able to freely look around makes a world of difference!!! It also makes sightseeing so much more fun!

So the update brought me a 'new' plane to use: the Stearman!

I also am still very happy with that R-key: being able to do that sightseeing missions without markers is nice. (Still HATE that message in the middle of the screen all the time!!!)

Same. I hated the Stearman before as I just couldn't see where I was going, and slowly scrolling the eyepoint around with buttons doesn't cut the cake. Now, I can just lean to the side and hang my head out of the cockpit. Then lean to the other side to see what's going on over there.

After seeing me do that, my wife remarked that she was going to get me some of the old-timey aviator goggles to wear! :Nerd:

Same results here. Prior to Track IR, flying the Stearman was an exercise in frustration for the most part. I felt like I was piloting a submerged submarine with no sonar. Now I love flying and landing it, and that radial engine sounds cool to. There is a guy in Atlanta that takes people on sightseeing trips in his Stearman, and the engine sound in Flight is pretty close. .

I was up with a friend recently, and taxiing back in to his hangar at our local airport noticed that another hangar had the door folded up and a bright yellow Stearman was sitting inside. I've got to find out who that belongs to.

Glad to see you've all seen the light! The Stearman is my favourite plane, and the improvement in visibility provided by TrackIR has transformed flying (and particularly landing) it, as well as my appreciation of the scenery. Site seeing, barn storming, cache collecting, ace!

I got my TrackIR today, installed it and - WOW! This is just great! Not only for the Stearman, I also like to fly the RV-6 a lot more now. TrackIR gives Flight a new dimension!

TrackIR has transformed Flight into a compelling platform along side FSX. The Boeing Stearman mostly certainly became more enjoyable as a result of the compatibility patch. I am quietly rooting for Flight's success in hopes that MS will allow for open 3rd party development when DLC revenues achieve margin goals. Alaska will play an instrumental part in this as well as the release of some quality aircraft with detailed VC.

The Stearman with Track Ir is a world class plane.
