Ok guys, thanks. Now I see the light.

Just be cautious in there, there is a reason those files are typically hidden by default...

Ok, I've been non-tweaking, and think I've cracked it.

I have a capable system. It should be able to run FLIGHT at full everything at full screen with no problems. However; I have a large, slow Dell 2709FP monitor, which I run at 1920x1200. It is so slow I have to use Vsync or I get noticeable tearing and it bugs me. Because of this, in high AG areas I can slow to 20FPS and see noticeable stutters. This annoyed me. I have been dealing with stuff like this for toooo long

so, I have lowered my shadows one notch and it has made a slight difference; still some mild stuttering in bad weather and really high AG.

Seeing all these new tweaks, I thought I can do this without tweaking, as I have with FSX (very few hardcore tweaks anymore)

I left my graphics settings with just shadows lowered to HIGH. I then changed custom=1 in the cfg (that's it) and got into NVI. These are my NVI settings:

I can only say that it has totally changed the game for me. It is noticeably more beautiful to look at..really smooth lines; great AF; it runs at a solid 30FPS even over the very highest AG areas, and a solid 60 everywhere else (this is fine for me; it was the stutters that annoyed me) and the weather seems to make no difference at all, now, whereas before, heavy weather and AG was killiing me..

I can also record FRAPS movies at a reasonable whack, too!

so, perfect grafx with no tweaking! (well, a tiny bit  )

Obviously, ymmv!
