Wilco Evo2 737 merge with 50-North model

Featured Replies

(a plea to potential posters, I think we all know the Wilco Evo hasnt been super popular, we also know PMDG have done a marvelous job on the NGX, could we pleasssseee just keep this thread from being a bash-fest on Wilco, its been done to death Ying%20Yang.gif  )

Anyone who actually did enjoy the old Wilco 737 (myself included) who has since gone on to purchase the Evo model is probably a little disapointed with the range of liveries, especially 3rd party ones. Sure you can buy the premium model which includes a bunch from Wilco but to be honest the repaint kit isnt super helpful so its easy to see why there arent many 3rd party repaints out yet for the Evo.

So in desperation I returned to my old favourite from my last flightsim rig, the 50-North (50N) model, and merged that with the new Evo air file and panel, and whadya know, hey presto, 2D panel working fine, aircraft systems normal, and the perfectly adaquete 50N exterior.

So how does swapping the exterior help??? ...

Well now you can use any of the dozens of 50N repaints available here at avsim.com and other places, and run them with the Evo panel. Also we can now potentially be creating additional liveries using the 50N repaint kit which surely has to be easier.

Its the best of both worlds if you ask me. I personally like the new Evo panel over the old one, I also certainly prefer the 50N exterior (although there are pro's n con's between them)

So anyway, give it a whirl, let us know how you get on. I'd be particularly interested to hear if any clever beggers get the VC working as well (currently I can only seem to get the 2D panel up.

BTW - for those that dont now, the 50N model is actually payware, was released for FS2004 but behaves fine for me in FSX and always has, comes with 300/400/500 exteriors, and is currently available at flight1 for $15us which always seemed ok to me as a swap in exterior.

This is a great merge, I have been using it since the first version of Wilco's B733. There was a merge available which allowed you to have the wilco 2D and VC incorporated with the 50N model, but it was for the original version, not the evo. Unfortunately I cannot find that merge anymore, it also included winglets for the B733 50N, I am sure that if I can find it, it will only be a matter of time until I can change the VC for the new Evo VC and 2D panel the same way, until then it's 2D panel only unfortunately.

Both of the merge files I know of are here but maybe not what you are seeking.

Have you managed to find a solution for it yet? I'm currently looking at doing the same thing, merging the Evo with the 50N, but so far like you in the virtual cockpit none for the 3D modelling appears

WILCO REQUIRE SOME REAL BASHING,THEIR EXTERIOR MODEL LOOKS WORSE THAN A CHEAP FREEWARE.IF THEY CAN'T CREATE REAL MODELS THEN LET THEM CONTRACT 50 NORTH ,POSKY OR SOME REAL GOOD MODEL MAKER TO DO IT FOR THEM,THAT'S THE DRILL.
