July 20, 201213 yr Yes, I'm still new to the Baron, but ran into a few issues. Please help me finding out about their nature. 1) The WX-10A, how does it work? I see those four dots wandering around which I interpret as the active scanning. The manual didn't help me any further though. By the way. The mouse wheel causes clicks as if the knobs were moving, but they don't move. Only left/right mouse button achieves this. 2) The stopwatch on the yoke. Try to reset it. I failed. 3) The switches for the landing lights 'start' in the on position, but the lights aren't on. So the first click won't move them in the VC, but the click sound takes place and the lights go on. All further clicks move the switches correctly. Try it! Note their 'up' position but off status. Only happens on the first flight of the day. 4) The turn coordinator. The mark should point at the 2min 360° turn, right? The standard 3° per second. Now I haven't measured the time yet, but to achieve him pointing at that mark, I have to turn way faster, feels like. And the G-force involved makes the passengers look flat. :o 4a) The gauges seems to receive some external light at times. Leading to that blue-ish line. Is that intended? 5) ADF indication. When there's no reception, it shows a bearing of +20 degrees. I actually don't know how the ADF behaves in those cases, but I saw a clear +90 degrees needle placement elsewhere, which is easier to interpret as 'no signal yet'. Well, I could listen to the ADF code of course, but me is a lazy sim pilot. Stating this because a zero reception on the VOR leads to a clear 90 degree needle. 6) The windshield wiper. Is there one? I have a click sound on the switch and I even receive a repeating 'movement' sound, but there's no visible wiper. I want that on my car! 7) The cabin light does not cause VC light being added. That's by design, right? Panel lights (flood and backlighting) work fine. 8) On the C310, you had some extra clickspot on the prop rpm levers to cause the props to feather (beyond just pulling the levers back). Is that one still present in the Baron or is it ok to just pull the lever all the way back? 9) The carb heat on the B55 adds some electrical load. Is that electrical heating? 10) Awesome plane! Yes, that's what I found out. ^_^ Serious research. 11) That one is from George. He's right, a DME display would be nice. We've got some room on the radio stack or where the inop Century AP resides with the round status display. Perhaps that one could show some DME data. Or perhaps some extra gauge like on the C310.
July 20, 201213 yr Author 9) The carb heat on the B55 adds some electrical load. Is that electrical heating? Nevermind, that's the prop heat switch moving when pressing H. It adds load with the battery off though. Same for the taxi light switch. So keep them off! :P Here's my measurement on 4) The turn coordinator. I'm flying some 160 kts GS, which should result in some 23.7° bank to achieve a standard 3° per second turn. The AP actually performs that turn, but the turn coordinator only displays half the amount of turn rate. The time for turning was 2:00, so the AP did good while the turn cooridnator still wonders what happened I guess. :Worried:
July 20, 201213 yr Moderator Just for information, this is the CHANGE LOG for what will eventually become the next -and hopefully final - Service Release: CHANGE LOG: 07/09/2012 ============ 1. Fixed ADF needle to point towards NDB reliably 2. Edited the GNS430 script to display the missing COM/NAV background rectangles. 3. Edited one of the texture files to paint out the lower registration placquard. I'd have removed it entirely, but unfortunately the underlying shadow was baked into the panel texture, and trying to "hand paint" it was hugely unsuccessful. 4. Added "Carb Heat" to the initialization routine for the B55 version. Thank you for pointing out the poor calibration on the turn coordinator. I'd not noticed that myself, so will tend to it before much longer. WRT to the wipers, a command decision above my pay grade decided to omit the wipers, so I'll remove the animation and click sound from the wiper switch. Maybe even add an INOP sticker... For DME, the GNS-530 has both current radial and distance for any tuned VOR with a valid signal. I've added stop watch, mouse wheel for WX-10A, and landing light switch to my "fix list." The WX-10A is actually a fake lightning detector. If turned "on" and it's raining, you'll see a bunch of random dots on the screen that only indicate that it's raining... the four sequential dots around the middle simply indicate that the unit is on and actively scanning. The front overhead light doesn't actually cast any light at all. Only the lens lights up to let you know it's "on." Fr. July 20, 201213 yr Author Thanks for answering and posting that changelog. Looks good. On the turn coordinator, could the ball also be affected by the half rate indication?
July 21, 201213 yr Commercial Member the WX radar works as it is. Flashing means it's working. to reset the stopwatch use the mouse wheel. The wiper switch will be removed as will sound. July 23, 201213 yr Any idea why my RH EGT display always shows higher than the LH engine? Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? When leaning, the RH gauge always stays ahead of the LH by at least 4 ticks as per the screenie below..Sometimes more. I can even them out but it means enriching the RH engine so much the FF gauges start to diverge... Sorry to jump your thread CoolIP, but as you were lookintg at possible bugs, I thought I'd chime in.. Fantastic plane. Love it! July 23, 201213 yr Author No problem, Jake. Actually a good catch, I will check that later. Perhaps it's something to give slightly different engine readings. A feature. You know, us simmers may have gotten used to the (sim) phenomenon that the one engine runs exactly like the other one and only few addons make a difference. Well, that's guessing. I will log the EGT values later and post my results. Can you help me on my weather scope issue? I'd like to know if other folks receive weather returns. Fantastic plane. Love it! I couldn't agree more with you.
July 23, 201213 yr Author On the EGT. The sim's (internal) engine data for both engines is exactly the same in this example. 1 / 2 Only the VC EGT gauge shows a slight difference. Must admit, if you hadn't mentioned it, I never would have seen it.
July 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member parallax. not sure this is a big deal... in real life, needles are never exactly the same... July 23, 201213 yr Author No big deal, if any. I wouldn't even look for a change on that one, personally. Don't know about Jake, As said, the artificial ways of the sim may have establish the habit of seeing clear 100% duplicate readings, that's all. Lol, I even had to zoom in to actually see it.
July 26, 201213 yr Not parallax, have looked at it fromall angles..but also in no way a big deal...just curious, that's all Sent from the FondleSlab using Tapatalk JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
