July 24, 201213 yr 1) FSX Has DX10 and to turn it on, click on DX10 preview and enjoy FSX in DX10 mode rather than in DX9 2) Now FSX in DX10 is nice an all but it has all these other issues 3) Steve has fixes for many if not for all the issues, 4) To apply Steve's fixes there is this file (which I have downloaded BTW) and run the install. Bat file that goes and removes a folder and adds some stuff. and fixes many of the issues 5) This is still WIP primarily the AA/Shimmering issues is stillin research mode by Steve, 6) Lights..you mentioned...not sure what the problem is here.. But if I have shockwave lights (Which I do), I should not have this issue? Does that sum it all up or am I way off? Manny Yep, you got it exactly right. The shimmering can be 'managed' using Inspector, but it's a lot of trial and error. It's really another sim, and comes with it's own set of problems. The aircraft lighting issue is a strange one, and not all aircraft have the same problem. My example would be sitting at Orbx's Darrington airfield at night - when you tun on the strobes - the street lights also flash. Same with the Landing lights, plus other issues. One needs to fully read his work on it to understand what occurs, but for the sake of thirty bucks - it's a much better 'fix' to just buy the SW lights. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

I am not going to be at home this weekend ,.. so I have to try it out the following weekend. Lets say, I run the batch file thats in AVSIM library and test out DX10. IF for some reason I don't care for it.. Can I undo this change? Or atleast if I uncheck "Dx10 preview" and into Fs9 mode, would I be in back to square one. Except maybe I may have to undo the nvidea settings maybe? How hard is it to undo if I want? Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 24, 201213 yr All I'd do is copy the folder to a safe spot before doing the mod, Manny, but it does work, though. Yep - in DX9 mode the file isn't used, so makes no difference - won't have any impact. I've also got a replacement file in my DropBox in case you get borked. Just to add - when any change is made in the HLSL folders - you need to delete the cache folder in your C:\{username}\appdata\local\microsoft\fsx\ There are two there - one for DX9, one for DX10, so to be sure I would delete them both. FSX will just rebuild them on the next startup. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
July 24, 201213 yr Author 3-monitor setup... NICE! Glad you are enjoying things Manny. Hi Tim. Yeah..thank you. Love the REX Stuff. The 3 monitor thing is simply awesome... But it chews up Frames too.. But thats the nature of the beast called FSX. LOL :) Manny Just to add - when any change is made in the HLSL folders - you need to delete the cache folder in your C:\{username}\appdata\local\microsoft\fsx\ There are two there - one for DX9, one for DX10, so to be sure I would delete them both.
