Should I do something about this ?

Recommended Posts

I have purchased the boxed version of PMDG 737NGX and I'm working through the tutorial and the printed manual. IN the FMC I see this information

navdata active

airac 1108 jul28aug24/11

and in the scratchpad

nav data out of date

Is this a problem? If so what should be done?

Update your AIRAC cycle.

No problem if you don't. I do this because the message irritates me.

Three things you can do:

1. Hit the "Clear" button and move on,

2. Buy an updated navigation data set from Navigraph, or

3. Modify the "cycle_info.txt" file.

Hi Jan!

No it's not a problem at all per se, that AIRAC OUT OF DATE message just tells you that the cycle you've got is not the active one therefore some information and procedures might not be the current ones because they've been changed since. Bearing this in mind you can fly as normal using that cicle or any other out of date ones. I like to keep my navdata updated and use Navigraph to keep the FMS with the current data. I know there are also some freeware utilities that update to some extent your FMS data but I'm not an expert and I find the whole Navigraph package (with charts too) extremely useful and worth the money.

Hope it helps!

I see a problem here. One thing I would need to purchase both the PMDG and FSbuild files. And these files are frequently updated so I would soon be in the same situation again.

You're not charged per add on. Each cycle is 20 credits regardless of how many add ons you download an airac for.

But this message WILL come up every four weeks. That is true.

You can always edit the cycle info to make it valid all the way to 2020 though.
