August 14, 201213 yr Hi, PMDG team have you any plans to develop a remote CDU via web service to run on an ipad or other pc with a web explorer like CRJ-200 by J.Rollon or the new Airbus Extended X by Aerosoft. In the SDK of the 737NGX i dont see any reference to display the lines of the CDU like the new SDK of the ifly 737, o am very interested on this feature. Regards from Spain Carlos Montoro

August 21, 201213 yr I agree, this is a killer feature. I'm guessing that this feature will be something most serious addon developers will add to their future planes vatsim s3

August 21, 201213 yr Author http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-display/id368158927?mt=8 Not are the same, with this you add an extra monitor to fsx , you need undock the fmc, translate to the extra monitor you lose frames, fsx continuosly write the fmc on screen and you lose anyone frame. The new system of Aerosoft have included a web server, and you only need a web Explorer to connect to your master fsx pc without losing any frame and not charge the fsx process Regards
August 21, 201213 yr The solution could be made by 3rd party developers, but only once (and if ever) PMDG allow the CDU screen content be read by the SDK. Once developer can get access to that, it can be done, since SDK can already transmit keypress to the NGX. Then it is up to developer to couple the SDK to hardvare CDU, network webbased application, or android/iOS system-based application. (edit: Thinking about it, I know LSK can be transmitted, but unsure about alphanumeric keys - that maybe has to be allowed by PMDG as well) Edited August 21, 201213 yr by Fabo --Peter Fabian
September 6, 201213 yr I'd love to see this functionality supported. I'm on Android and tried the AirDisplay route, but it simply isn't usefully usable. The issues are twofold: you have to have the CDU screen slightly overlapped from the AirDisplay monitor to the main monitor, or it stops updating. You're also forced to use windowed mode, which kills your frame rate. And that's not to mention the fact that you're basically transmitting the entire resolution of your tablet display across the network, rather than simply transmitting button presses and screen text. That could be near-instantaneous, and could be made to update in real time with minimal load on the host PC or network. (Ideal would be for the SDK to provide access to both screen text or rendered screen images for the CDU, and rendered screen images for the other displays, allowing all controls and displays to be mirrored on a tablet app for a more tactile experience.) The AirDisplay route is anything but instantaneous, with significant lag even on a powerful PC and tablet. I really, really hope PMDG considers opening up access to all of this.
