DxtFixerX - B1 Archiver Changes Home Page!

Featured Replies

I downloaded a program called DxtFixerX to add missing alpha filters to textures in FSX. I also got something called the B1 Archiver. Fine, I deleted/uninstalled that since I was happy with my present setup. The DxtFixerX program works ok.

However, now my home page on both Internet Explorer and Firefox is being changed to the B1 site. If I change my home page selection to my proper home page it reverts to the B1 site on a re-boot.(http://search.b1.org(http://search.b1.org/?bsrc=ecfor&qq=). Allowing any program to make basic changes to your browser is just plain BAD!

I could say how I really feel but Tom might not understand those words and ban me.

I downloaded and ran the same program. I didn't have the same issue - no browser hijacks. In my dxtfixer folder there is nothing called B1 Archiver. My zip file contains three files - dxtfixer.exe, log.txt, readme.txt.

MSFS Premium Deluxe Edition; Windows 11 Pro, I9-9900k; Asus Maximus XI Hero; Asus TUF RTX3080TI; 32GB G.Skill Ripjaw DDR4 3600; 2X Samsung 1TB 970EVO; NZXT Kraken X63; Seasonic Prime PX-1000, LG 48" C1 Series OLED, Honeycomb Yoke & TQ, CH Rudder Pedals, Logitech G13 Gamepad

Nothing to do with dxtfixerx, and there are no such file as B1 Archiver. You got infected by something else.

Same as Jeff no problems here and only 3 files in the package.

I think it happened early on while I was looking at the relavent forum there was a link to the DXT program. I did not pay any attention to it and used it to get to DXTfixer. Reading on I found that there was an update. Got that and it did not have the B1 thing. It was only on a reboot that I saw the hijack.

I agree that the current version of the program is clean and works. Fortunately, Firefox has some simple procedures to deal with home page hijacks and rogue search bars. In a few minites I was back to normal.

Once again the fixer programs works without issue.
