>I was quite surprised by the poor quality VC of this aircraft>(I haven't bought it, only seen screenshots). I bought the>Katana from Aerosoft and it has one of the best VC's of any FS>aircraft so I was expecting this to be at least as good or>even better. The danger with publishers, rather than developers, is that you can't make quality inferences from one product to the next. Look at the stark differences between Wilco's PIC 767 and PIC A320. The 767 team and the A320 team were completely different...and the Wilco name and similarities in product titles suckered a lot of folks into buying the 320 under the impression it was the same high-quality stuff as the 767 (it was not). In fact, the only thing they shared was the Wilco marketing mechanism. My only peripheral experience with Aerosoft was with Matthias Kok while he was with Lago, on the the Lago Twin Otter, and I can say that they (Lago...another publisher), under Matthias' hand, did not produce the promised improvements to the Twotter...liveries, paint kit etc. All we got was "I'm trying to get the (Russian) authors to give me that" sort of excuses strung out over a period of months and months after release. So if the VC stinks, and Matthias and company are promising they'll get you a decent one...well...let the buyer beware. Might be worth waiting until a decent VC actually materializes before getting the credit card out.Personally, I don't see much here for the money. The panel is primitive (like the real acft) with liberal apparent use of default MS stuff. The VC is cartoonish and nowhere near state of the art. Haven't heard any good quantitative analysis of the flight dynamics yet. Not much here I can see that I can't already get for free out of the Avsim library.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

After seeing the pictures of the VC, I decide NOT to buy the beaver.Hope they fix this asap. In FS2004 I only fly VC. I do this for all planes and helicopters and couldn't fly without them.

I just checked the manual of both the Katana and Beaver.Flight model: Alexander Metzger did this for both. The Katana had some problems in the beginning but they were solved with a patch. This can be explained by the very unique handling characteristics of the real Katana. I'd expect the flight model of the Beaver to be very good.Hans Hartmann did the gauge logic/programming for both projects. The graphics/models etc. was done by different people for these projects however. This would explain the difference.

The beaver has some problems, but the flight model is not one of them. Just as in real life, you can come in both steep and slow with landing flaps applied, and flying a coordinated turn in level flight low over the water is easy. The landing flare is great, you pull up level just above the water and then slowly settle in, just as it should be. I'm hoping that this is just annother case of a plane being released a little earlier than it should have been (not uncommon these days, unfortunately), and that it will develop into a great addon.
