August 23, 201213 yr I'm trying to do a simulation of a one man (for now) aviation charter company. you don't have to have an FBO to do this correct? what would I need in R/L? besides the red tape at least one plane a hanger to store it in.. actually wouldn't really need this? correct? advertise fly customers? I know this is highly simplified.. but I'm leaving out the red tape, the cost the blah blah blah..licenses, etc all scheduling could be done by me, correct? Ciao!
August 23, 201213 yr A plane to fly and people willing to pay you to fly it would be the basics. A hangar would be useful, depending on how much you want to protect your plane from the elements. I'm sure whoever does your maintenance would like to work inside, though they might have their own hangar (if you contract an external company). As a one man charter you probably wouldn't have a schedule, just have a list of common destinations with a fixed price. People come along whenever they want to fly (or arrange beforehand via phone / internet). You need all the stuff any one man business needs (e.g. someone to take care of the accounts, though you could do that yourself). FAR part 135 might have some additional rules, but you said you weren't too interested in the red tape part. John-Alan Pascoe
August 25, 201213 yr Author well the problem with the red tap is it is difficult to simulate... Ciao!
August 25, 201213 yr My neighbor used to be a pilot for UPS. He retired and made it super simple. He had a tiedown at KBQK but went wherever the job took Him. Would sleep in a motel one night and His plane on another. He would fly all over GA and FL with no pattern or FBO. He just called KBQK His home but really was only in town maybe 5 or 6 days a month.
