Ack! Fuel Gremlin! Help!

Featured Replies

I'm suddenly having a problem with FS9 that I've never encountered before. I use the "Aircraft>Fuel and Payload" menu to change the fuel load. I click OK and the fuel gauges show the correct amount, but almost immediately they change back to 100% full. I go back to the "Aircraft>Fuel and Payload" menu, and sure enough all tanks are full. This happens with any aircraft I load. It happens every time I change the fuel quantity. "Unlimited Fuel" is not checked (though even if it was it shouldn't do this). I deleted my fs9.cfg and let fs9 build a new one. No difference. I even cleaned any used gauges out of my gauges folder.Any ideas?? I'd really like to not have to reinstall fs9. ;(Sidney Schwartz KPDX

Only thing I can think of is that you are parked near a fuelling station.

Close. Turns out I was parked in an "auto refuel" parking spot. I didn't even know there was such a thing. All I had to do was move the plane. Sigh. Thanks for responding. :-waveSidney Schwartz KPDX

There are auto-refuel spots in FS-9? How do you find out where those spots are?

Beats me. AFCAD doesn't show them, at least not in any way that I could figure out.Sidney Schwartz KPDX

There is no easy way to find them, other than to look for the fuel pumps. They are often located near (or at) the general aviation parking section of airports. You will refuel automatically if you bring your aircraft close to the pumps and come to a full stop. Yes, unfortunately some parking spots by default are inside of this refueling range, and therefore you will end up with 100% fuel whether you want it or not.

Actually there is an easy (relatively, anyway) way. Just add "SHOWTRIGGERS=1" to the [sCENERY] section of FS9.CFG. This will draw a green cube around the trigger like the one shown in the attached screen shot (from KSEA).Note also that you need to be stopped (ground speed very near 0) in order for refuelling to happen.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/81397.jpg
