Featured Replies

Gang,Need some help on this one, it seems that FS9 has been crashing on me about 30 minutes into flying, doesnt care about the plane or anywere on the planet it seems, get errors from everything with all types of DLL's, including panel.dll, facilities.dll, weather.dll, and ntsdll.dll, dont know why this started all of a sudden, but any help would be great, already deleted the FS9.cfg file and let it start from scratch, also unistalled and deleted any recent addons I put into any of the folders, all drivers are up-to-date. Any help would be much apprecaited. Thanks, JB

Hi,I can't really help you, but I would like to ask a question. Is one of the addons you recently installed (and then uninstalled i presume) an aircraft? If so, could you please list the aircraft(s)? The reason I ask this is I think I am starting to have the same problem, and believe it or not I suspect it may be due to an aircraft. I am not certain though. Sometimes I have a very long flight with no trouble while at all while other times my sim crashes after about 30 to 60 minutes. I am only suspicious though and have nothing I am definite about.Regards,Jim

Well the suspicion of my occasional CTD problem being due to a certain aircraft may very well have been unfounded. I just ran a 'chkdsk /F' on the parition that I have FS2004 installed on and it found an error that it said it corrected. So I am hoping that solves the problem for me. You might want to try the same JB. Sorry I can't be of more help.Jim

Hi Jb,If you've recently installed any landclass, make sure the scenery subfolder you put the BGLs into does NOT have a companion texture subfolder,as this will eventually create a fatal memory leak.Hope this helps-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x

Hello,Did you OverClock your system? This can happen if OC too far.

Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44

Thanks for the help gang, god I love this board.Jim running a checkdisk now of all my volumes, so we will see what happens.Emile,No overclocking done on my system, works fine without having to do that, that will be the next system I build, :)Justin,Havent installed any landclass in a while now. Chase,God man dont say that word of reinstall, that would take me the better part of two days putting everything back in, and as far as an identical pc lying around, cost less then $1500 to build, so pony up brother, LOL!!!JB

hey JB.Had a similar problem. Chkdsk helped once or twice, but what really helped was a complete reinstall of the OS and then FS9. You wouldn't believe what junk you get from surfing, omg, it sucks your system resources dry. Save some of you relevant folders (aircraft, addon scenery, scenery, etc.) to copy back in after you've installed FS9 and you'll be a happy camper. Yes, it's kind of extreme, but it works, believe me. Good luck whatever you do.....rgds,billg

Common CTD causesBad(AI)aircaft....does the sim run CTD free with AI OFF? http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=196014&page=Bad Scenery....not compatible with COFBad Afcad....try moving all AF2_*.bgls to a temp folder to use just default airport files, see if you still get CTDLand Class....texture folder should not be used(already discussed)Heating.......(overclock/lack of cooling)Clouds.........some third party require "render to texture":ONBad panel/gauge.......not compatible with COFRun CHKDSK.......(if zonealarm doesn't shut it down that is)Hardware....try moving memory modules/reseating. Removereinstall other hardware devices to make sure they're seated properly. Check cables,etc.Reinstall...DX, video driver(make sure no other vid. drivers hanging around).I've got a second hardrive with a fresh install(no add-onsthird party stuff, etc.) of FS9 that I use to check to make sure that any hardware or software issues that might cause CTD's can be eliminated. So far everytime i've used the untouched fs9 version it works fine, so I can pretty much assume it's an add-on/corrupt file issue with my original FS9 setup. What(if any)weather programs are you using? What(if any)AI traffic(Ultimate Traffic, etc. or manual AI install)are you using?Have you changed bios, drivers recently? Are you having problems with any other 3d gaming?

You may want to check your system temperatures. It sounds as though you may be overheating under load.

Okay,Tried this last night:Turned all AI aircraft off - Didnt work!Removing any scenery that might cause a problem - DoneMoved all Afcad files - Done this AM!No LandClass installed at this point and time.No overclocking doneNo third party clouds installed.Removed all panels and gauges that might cause a problem into a new folder elsewere.Ran CHKDSK several times. Will Reinstall DX and Video Drivers next.No weather program installed.Project AI only installedNo changes to the BIOS or any major drivers in the last three months. No problems with any other games I have on the other hard drives. Will be trying some more here this morning. Thanks guys.

While flying, turn on your Windows Task Manager. CLick on the Performance tab and watch the Physical Memmory "Available" number. If you start to see that dwindle down as you continue to fly you are experiencing a memory leak. (recent add-on, hidden landclass, external 3rd-party applet).might help lead you in the right direction

Believe it or not, got that error acouple of days ago when it said there was no more memory left in a new error, but it hasnt popped up lately, going thru all possible scenarios you mentioned above, one thing is for sure, all the folks on this board have been great with all the help. It is greatly appreciated on this side.JB

Okay gang,Starting to weed this down quite a bit, but it looks like I might have to do a complete reinstall of everything. But I can say this, I am down to one error, the facilities.dll seems to be the only thing popping up on this, will do a reinstall of video drivers and DirectX of course, any new ideas, let me know.

Hi JB,Well, I'm still getting some crashes now and then, even after chkdsk fixed a filesystem error. Right after it fixed the error I ran FS2004 and not ten minutes later I got a crash in 'TERRAIN.dll'. The next time I ran the sim, I flew for many hours with no problem. Today, I got a crash in 'G3D.dll'. I don't know what to make of it. I don't not believe that my system has a heat problem. I have a Zalman CNPS7000A Pure Copper CPU Heatsink/Fan and I don't overclock at all. My CPU runs plenty cool. Of course this doesn't mean some other component isn't suffring from a heat problem. But, as I have said here already, sometimes I can run the sim for hours and hours with no problem. Other times I get a crash, usually within 10 to 30 minutes. Anyone know what G3D.dll is anyway? What I'm really thinking is, is that I should go back to what I believe is the most stable version of the ATI Catalyst drivers for FS2004, CAT 4.2's. And then see if I continue to have any crashing problems. I'm currently using the 4.6's.Regards,Jim
