VoxATC without speech possible?

Featured Replies

Could anybody explain to me whether it is somehow possible to use VoxATC WITHOUT speech recognition or not? I'm asking this because I run the dutch version of Windows 7 professional and I don't want to change my OS' language, but I feel VoxATC is the best offline ATC solution available because of the SID/STAR ability.

Thanks.

With kind regards,

Kevin Schepers

That is not an option. The whole idea with VoxATC is that you speak to it.

Kind regards

Peter

your only option would be by using the FO to handle your COMM.

I use that and it's great for me.

Thanks for your replies!

If the FO handles all COMMs, then how am I supposed to make the decisions? Could you maybe explain in more detail how you use that feature? I'm interested! :)

With kind regards,

Kevin Schepers

If the FO handles all COMMs you do NOT make any decisions. You are then expected to fly what the FO says.

Kind regards

Peter

however you could instruct the FO to request other approac or flight level, etc via the Menu "0"

Yes, it is possible. You click on a button to hand over communications to your virtual co-pilot. I rarely use the voice recognition.

Edit: sorry, I somehow replied to the original post without seeing that there were several replies already answering the question.

Even with the first officer handling communications, you can still access the drop down menu for special items such as "request descent for arrival".

Please explain how to hand over communication to co- pilot, where is the button for that and how to configure it. Also, is it possible to hear the voice of the co- pilot while communicate? Thanks.

In the VoxATC folder in the Start Menu you will find a tool called Joystick Setup.

Here you will be able to assign a keyboard or joystick button to toggle the FO.

In the Settings tool you need to ensure 'FO Available' is checked.

Finally, using the Voice Configuration tool you can assign a FO voice.

Hope that helps.
