FSX Install

Featured Replies

I am needing some help in trying to allow FSX to install for me. I have to do a reinstall (please don't ask), and now I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why FSX is giving me the repair and remove option still. Here's how I unistalled: FSX was also installed into c:\FSX and all addons into c:\FSX-addons

-uninstalled via control panel

-deep uninstall via advance system care

-defrag

-registry clean with advance system care

I have manually deleted the files in c:\users\me\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX, c:\FSX, c:\FSX-addons

-deleted the registry record under HKEY_Cuurent_User/Software/Microsoft/Microsoft Games/10.0

I also unistalled Prepar3d in the same manner. Is there anything I am missing or will it be an OS reload.

Thanks,

Tom

Edited advice, didn't read your post correctly. Apologies.

FSX will not uninstall completely without using that option on the screen you are asking about. Just choose uninstall and it will do it's thing and then you can reinstall. I know, doesn't make sense, but that's the way it works. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses, I ended up re-imaging my hard drive as after about an hour I could not get FSX to uninstall from the prompt screen.

You can still get the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Softpedia, but be aware that Microsoft removed it some years ago from its download center because they found out it could damage the operating system.

Thanks guys, I will have to remember that tool in the future. Since I have an image I simply did that and reinstall went smooth.
