FSX FATAL ERROR ?

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me with this ? When loading FSX I get the opening screen OK then the first page where you select your aircraft etc, as soon as I click on "change" to select a different plane I keep getting an error message which says " FSX HAS ENCOUNTERED A FATAL ERROR" the window goes opaque and FSX shuts down. I had been flying all morning no problems, took a break, went back to it and I get this. No hardware or software changes had been made prior to this happening.

My PC specs are here and I am running FSX with acceleration on Win 7, 64 bit

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks, Buster.

Hello

I’m sure some guys here can help, but more info is needed.

Can you upload the event report?

Hit the Windows Key and type “View all problem reports” (without quotation marks), open the applet and look for Microsoft Flight Simulator, click on the problem report and copy-paste here whatever it says.

Another source is to use Event Viewer.

Open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application.

Search for Flight Simulator Errors, copy-paste the error report here.

Cheers

Try removing or renaming the uiautomationcore.dll in your FSX directory. There may be a problem with the installation of the MILVIZ F15E. You can check it by moving the F15E folder to a temporary directory and then running FSX. If you can now select aircraft, then the aircraft was not installed properly. The report shows an issue with system memory configuration (Exception Code 0000005 - Memory_Access_Violation). That could happen with a missing texture or gauge that FSX is trying to load. It could also happen if memory config in the BIOS is incorrect due to wrong memory timings, frequency or voltages. Sorry I cannot pinpoint the problem. If you get anymore error messages showing the faulting module, please post it here.

Best regards,

Jim

I am pleased to report back to let you know I have solved it. I tried the uiautomationcore.dll thing, didnt work. Deleted the Milviz F15, still the same so reinstalled it. Checked the memory timing and voltage in the BIOS, all OK. When I tried to boot up my PC ealier this evening it refused and the MOBO diagnostic LED showed a memory error code. I run with 4 x 2GB modules, I pulled two out that I was suspect of and BINGO, FSX now runs fine, no more crashes ! Now need to RMA them to Corsair.

Any other members suffering FSX crashes and tried the usual fixes without joy, it might be wise to stress test your memory, I didnt !!

Thanks for your help Jim, appreciated as always.

Best regards, Buster.

Thanks Buster for reporting the solution to your problem. I'm happy you were able to find it. Unfortunately it takes a lot of investigating and time.
