  1. Seasons greetings to the forum. Been a while since I posted here but always lurking. Having been a loyal FSX merchant since release and patiently waiting for P3D in 64 bit, I am now transitioning to V4.1 and determined, after years of FSX grief and headaches, to get things right from the start so I have a clean & stable sim platform. All my flying is done around Wales and SW England. Not to keen on the Orbx stuff for this area so I want to stay with Horizon VFR Photo Scenery GenX Version 3 and UK2000 Airports, I believe both work well in V4.1. I like the idea of installing add on scenery and Aircraft in a folder outside the sim so they are not disturbed in future updates. I understand that there are a few methods of doing this. Editing XML files is not an option for me as, with my limited skills, this is asking for trouble, so I would like to keep it simple and create two folders outside the sim, one for add on scenery and another for aircraft. I understand that entering a path pointing to the new scenery in the scenery library "Add area" feature will work ? I read somewhere that a similar thing can be done for add on aircraft by adding a path pointing to them in the appropriate SimObjects cfg file ? I am not clear on the procedure and looking for some guidance, I am new to all this so bear with me ! 1/ I have Vol 1,2 & 3 of VFR GenX on DVD's, should I unpack all three volumes into one new scenery folder and name it "VFR GenX" ? Does it matter what the folder is named ? 2/ Or, should I create three new separate scenery folders and name them VFR GenX Vol 1,2 & 3 and enter three new file paths for each in the library ? 2/ What would be the correct path to write into the Scenery Library for the sim to see the new folder ? All things P3D are on my G: drive. An example would be most helpful 3/ Aircraft. I have created a new hangar outside the sim and named it "Addon Aircraft" Should I make a path entry in the "Airplanes" cfg file ? if so, where is it located ? 4/ Should I make the new path entry at the top or bottom of the Airplanes cfg file ? does it matter ? Again, an example of the file path to write would be very helpful. Sorry for the dumb questions but I am not familiar with P3D. Always found this forum most helpful in the past so looking forward to any assistance with this. Thanks. Buster.

  3. Where can I find the PDF manual for this. The manual on the product page states that it was released in 2005 which suggests its the manual for the old model. Is the manual included in the download only ? Thanks.
  4. I sincerely hope they include Virgin Atlantic, early and current. Happy new year.

    Which Huey?

This is the way to go for Huey fans, with its working mini guns, rockets etc you can re-create a similar attack scene (not Vietnam) from the movie Apocalypse Now. Excellent detailed model and flies nice. Great Huey sound-pack. Add a bit of "Ride of the Valkyries" DCS is free and the aircraft modules are the best you will find.

    Best Jet Fighter for P3D?

To the O.P. It depends what you like really, American or British, the Milviz F4 phantom and F15 are superb. The Aerosoft F14 Tomcat and the Just Flight Tornado GR1 are all excellent choices, I have them all. The Razbam Harrier is a cracker also. If dog-fighting is your thing, take a look at DCS World.

    VSync and triple buffering!

I have my FPS locked at 30 and V-sync set to half refresh rate in NI as per Kostas tweaks, silky smooth in FSX and P3D. Kostas tweaks solved my headaches years ago !

Aircraft veering to left on take off

Thanks for all the input chaps, I got it sorted, I habitually fly from my local former RAF St Athan using runway 26. I went into "CURRENT LOCATION" to check the settings and found it on "ACTIVE RUNWAY" re set it back to runway 26 and job done !! Works fine now. Cheers. Buster.

Aircraft veering to left on take off

Not starting from a saved flight, I dont save flights. My planes always loaded up on the centerline of the runway, now its off on the far right side, the veer left is more of a turn, quite violent and impossible to control, this is not torque that just needs a bit of rudder input, something badly wrong here.
  10. Seasons greetings to the forum. A new problem has just started in my FSX, when the plane loads (ready to fly) it is on the right side of the runway, when you power up to go it veers sharply to the left out of control. All my planes are doing it. I have re-calibrated my CH Fighter stick and I don't use pedals. Any ideas why this is happening chaps ? Cheers, Buster.
  11. I've always been puzzled as to why makers of throttle controllers have overlooked this, so nice to have the basic essentials of flight controll on the stick or throttle so you dont have to take your eyes off the screen to hit F2 when landing. Many throttles have a useless idle detent, if you close the throttle you know its at idle !! why not make the detent for reverse thrust & prop feather ? Just sayin
  12. I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe this has reverse thrust after the idle position ? Saitek Three Lever Pro Throttle Quadrant (PZ45) Perhaps another member can confirm as I need one too ! Buster.
  13. Wish I was there, nice fire, I could have got close for a warm & chuck some spuds in !
  14. I had complete success with Word Not Allowed's FSX guide using a stock 4770k and GTX580, FSX runs like a dream.

    Corrupt downloads

I had the same problem when downloading Milviz stuff. I turned off AV and Windows Firewall, during download and installation then back on after. That fixed it for me.
