October 6, 201213 yr Thanks to your check list I was able to get a successful engine start without an engine fire! I was a total Fail on the tutorial as far as the engines go, never could get the call out about the prop locks, works now Thanks again. Charlie Coulon
December 20, 201213 yr Here it is again. Hey Al, I've just found this topic, but not the link to the checklist. Any idea ? Am I overlooking something obvious ? Cheers, Emile Bax.
December 23, 201213 yr Author Hi Emile, for some reason the attachment seems to keep disappearing. It was there, but now it isn't. And for some other bizarre reason when I log onto this forum from my pc, sometimes I just get a blank screen, so I am writing this post on my iPad, but I don't have the checklist on my iPad so I can't attach it. If you check back to this topic in a day or two, I will have figured out how to do it, and I'll reattach the checklist (unless some kind person who has already downloaded it beats me to it). Al.
December 25, 201213 yr I think I have it - is this the one with the non-normals and reference section? Send me a PM tomorrow to remind me and I'll upload it when I get back home.
December 25, 201213 yr I think I have it - is this the one with the non-normals and reference section? Send me a PM tomorrow to remind me and I'll upload it when I get back home. As far as I know that's the one. Actually I'm off for a week tomorrow morning, and no Internet at our little holiday home so can't send you a reminder, but there's no rush - whenever you can, thanks ! Cheers, Emile Bax.
December 25, 201213 yr I got back earlier than I thought and managed some time away from the wife Here's is Spinner's checklist, I'll leave it up there for future it doesn't use much space: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29331868/Spinner%27s%20PMDG%20J41%20Checklists.pdf
December 31, 201213 yr Thanks for posting it. I still haven't managed to get this plane fully started without blowing the engines. I feel abandoned because PMDG never posted an update that would do cold and dark and keep all systems properly initialized for a startup from zero. Since the cockpit is complicated and the PMDG checklist (always blows my engines) is large and includes some ambiguities as well as things that are inop or do not apply to the simulation, I decided to color code it. Beside each point I added a dot with a color code indicating whether the check item could be found on the pilot's panel, copilot's panel, overhead, left side of the pilot or the lower part. I didn't manage to complete it yet. I bought it about a year ago but haven't been able to enjoy it for the engine blowing reason :( lacking a proper panel state for a cold & dark, been waiting for the service pack ever since but none :( for that reason I have not ventured into the PMDG 737 NGX. December 31, 201213 yr Do you have FSUIPC? If so, there is a lua script made in LINDA that will reset the cockpit to cold and dark. You can assign a key combo to trigger it. I don't use it though I've been doing ok without it but it's a good option. To learn J41 best I built my own checklist from a combination of several others and learnt on the go, and I did the tutorial flight originally. For more detail on starting without burning the engines: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/261431-js41-startup-guide/ Don't give up, it's a very satisfying plane to fly and would be a shame for you to miss. If you can master this it sets you up well to learn the other PMDG addons. This is arguably harder to fly in some ways, but there is less system complexity. I still fly it even though I have the NGX, MD-11, A300 etc
January 2, 201313 yr I got back earlier than I thought and managed some time away from the wife Here's is Spinner's checklist, I'll leave it up there for future it doesn't use much space: https://dl.dropbox.c... Checklists.pdf Thanks heaps for the upload, Dan. Got it OK and saved to the HDD. Sorry for late reply - I've only just come home from a nice, quiet week away. Another ten days leave to go before starting work again, so this document will come in very handy with what I plan to spend part of that time on  ! Cheers, Emile Bax.
