Service Based Failures

Featured Replies

I wish PMDG can include an option to accelerate hours by a cerrtain number. Like 20x, 100x... etc.

This was one of the biggest features I was looking forward to but since I am unable to fly like a RW pilot and rarely the same livery it is very likely I will never see a failure.

I know its true to life but it's kind of a dissappointment for me.

Hi Chuck,

I too found this feature missing. I have written a small script in Python for accelerating the failures. The script reads the times when next failure of each type is going to set off, and dividies them by a set amount. So in a way it works as if the time was passing faster. Makes flying much more exciting.

It also notices when the failure counters get reset because a failure actually occurred (it stores all necessary info in its own file). If you want the script (you need Python installed - its free) just PM me.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but thought it might fit here.

Does anyone know how FS2Crew responds to failures? Or if it does notice them at all? I was just wondering what happens, if the F/O runs his preflight checks and there's a failure of any kind because I switched on Service Based Failures in the NGX. Will he notice?

Thanks in advance,

Stefan

At the moment FS2Crew does not recognize or work with abnormals or failures. However, Mr. York who makes the FS2Crew is working on a module for emergencies and failures specifically for the PMDG 737NGX. It will be the first, and possibly only, module of FS2Crew to address anything abnormal. It is not yet released and I do not know how extensive it will be.

Thanks. I have read abut this too. I was just wondering... So basically, the F/O is running all the tests and considers them passed no matter what?

Hi guys, hope I'm not hijacking here...

Are fluid levels/usage levels tracked per air frame, or do they refill each time you select another aircraft? (assuming I've not loaded a saved flight).

Jordan Forrest

I have kept switching aircraft models and my lowering oil levels seem to be following me. I am curious. Anyone know if there exists another way of topping oil without performing a full 250hr maintenance which would initialize the maintenance failure clock again? The last time they got down to about 9 quarts on one side they miraculously appeared as full on the following flight and as far as I can tell the maintenance failure clock did not reset. Anyone else experience this?
