My FO doesn't seem to realise that after landing you have to stop after exiting the runway and then, on getting clearance from Ground, taxi to the gate.

 

Having exited the runway I say "Ok to clean up" which he acknowledges and then says "cabin crew disarm slides" followed by "I'm ready for the shutdown." At night he turns on full cockpit lighting and even has the taxiway light off! The fact that we then have a long taxi to the gate doesn't seem to register.

 

What can I do about him? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Iain,

 

Don't set your Parking brake till you arrive at the gate.

 

The Parking Brake is the trigger... the FO thinks you're at the gate.
