FSX stutters ONLY in New York

TextureMaxLoad should equal the default of 6 and no higher than 12. Yours is 30. Don't know why you disabled ProcSpeed as that is a default line item and will be rebuilt when you restart FSX. I see it was and your ProcSpeed is a little higher now. Can't see anything other than the TextureMaxLoad setting. I heard anything about 12 is taking up a lot of processing power. I would return it to 6.

Best regards,

Jim

most of those strange changes and commented likes that we know that will reappear are due to the shader3... if I had problems regarding low performance in a global way, I could revert some of those settings, but with an average of 30s fps I guess I can't complain...

even in New York, with the A320 from wilco, I have between 25 and 50fps. with the pmdg 737 the fps are between 20 and 30!

still, as fsx is nice to tweak I'm going to try the suggestion you're leaving here! if turns out good I'll have the same quality and even more fps! lol the fsx never ending battle! :-D

As you pan around FSX has to load *massive* amounts of data into VRAM. This causes the stuttering you are seeing. The only potential solution is to increase the amount of VRAM you have and also how quickly data can be loaded into it. IOW: get a PCI-e 3.0 graphics card with at least 2GB VRAM running at a very high speed. Fast system RAM helps too.

dude, so how do you justify that this only happens in one particular place?

Installing the latest version of the Virtuali addon manager should solve the problem tho, you shouldnt have to uninstall your FSDT airports

aww, ok! didn't know that! tomorrow I'll check it and see what happens!

Because that particular place is the most demanding of all places in FSX, as was already mentioned. But I digress, there may well be a bug that can be addressed in software as others have mentioned.

as I said about 3 times, ALWAYS between 25 and 50 fpswith a add-on aircraft?

it can't be the graphics card... it had to be something else because when it stutters, even the mouse or the joystick doesn't work! it's adjust like the whole system stops for a couple seconds... it's a different thing from a low fps situation

The FPS meter in FSX does not report FPS in real-time, it samples FPS at a rate of once or twice every second or two (I don't recall the exact number, but it is very long) and therefore not accurate. It's like taking a picture rather than a video. Because of this, you can't use FPS to judge the "fluidity" of FSX. You can have brief pauses or "stutters" while the FPS meter still displays a high value.

Just wondering if you set your FPS to 30 in game if it helps cut back on the stuttering and FPS fluctuation?

Daniel, you really should go through my tweaking tutorial, as there are couple of things I must clarify for you:

1) you are never going to see smooth movements in FSX using unlimited frames (UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0), EVEN if you are using external limiter, which you apparently aren't using.

I don't believe noone noticed this...

2) NY is a hard area, on the best of machines that area won't run smooth on high settings, but it will most likely run best using my tweaks.

Here is the guide: http://#####...hardware-guide/

You can of course skip the hardware part, which comes after software. Also pay good attention to the VSYNC settings, monitor refresh rate...

Good luck!

Hi Daniel,

This is the only thread I find on the entire internet describing the same problem I am having. The behaviour of the issue I am having is exactly the same as you are, and I find the same conclusions that you do.

The issue is not related to FSX.cfg config, nor to hardware. I have a high end computer (4770K, GTX760Ti - runs Arma 3 all maxxed out without even sweating) and I am experiencing the same issues as you in NY. I tried three different scenery sets and all of them show the same behaviour, including the 'all default configuration' (default scenery + default aircraft). This doesn't happen in any other airport (that I have noticed so far), even in the most demanding sceneries available in the market, used with the most demanding aircraft on the market. Only thing that actually fixes it is bringing scenery complexity to 'Sparse' or 'Very Sparse', which basically causes us to see no buildings whatsoever. More over, changing from DX10 to DX9 doesn't change anything. Rebuilding FSX.cfg doesn't do anything at all either, nor does any FSX tweaking configuration. I also tried pretty much every possible configuration of available freeware scenery and FS Display adjustments.

I'm convinced that there is some issue with KJFK default scenery in conjunction with something else. If one flies from KTEB to KEWR, even seeing Manhattan's buildings but not approaching them so much, thus keeping far from KJFK, the simulator runs normally. However, approaching KJFK or KLGA makes the stutter happen immediately. We're talking about a five to ten seconds total stop of FS every 15 to 20 seconds of game play. FS X has specific scenery library entry for some default cities scenery (Rio de Janeiro, Berlin, Oshkosh, etc.), but doesn't have one for New York, which would make it much easier to fix, I guess.

It's a no go for flying in New York. People keep saying this is the same for every big city, but that's also not true, in my machine Chicago and London, for example, see a decrease in FPS but no full FS stutter as in New York. Also the situation in NY does not compare to what happens in Seattle (another example). Heavy sceneries induce FPS to go lower, which is OK, understandable, expected and acceptable. But it is totally impossible to fly in JFK for example, if FS locks for five seconds every fifteen seconds. And when I say 'locks' it is total lock.

Hopefully anyone also having this can share information so we can find out what to do. I recently migrated from FS9 to FSX and it would be my first time flying in NY in the new sim, as I fly mostly in Europe, but it won't be happening any time soon unless this gets fixed. It would be good to know if anyone that actually reinstalled the whole FSX to fix this problem had success or not, because otherwise is not worthy do it.

Thanks an all the best,
Daniel

I don't have a clue as to what the answer may be, but......welcome to the forum.

Actually I didn't (and don't) have a FSX performance problem as you describe. My problem was a out dated Viatuali addon manager for my FSDT scenarios  that was freezing my sim around the areas where I have their addons installed!

If you have any FS Dream Team airport, try to update the addon manager or uninstall everything from FSDT and see what happens...
