September 23, 201213 yr Recently I've found that for some reason my FSX lags a lot flying in the NY area. Actually I only have to start a flight and turning the camera in circles around the aircraft (inside and outside), every half a "lap", it stops and then continues turning. At first I thought that I had the settings too high, but then looking at the FPS it was always between 25 and 50! Then I tried to do the same thing (turning the camera) in other US airport and the result was normal. In LA, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas I have no problems at all. Also tried Heathrow and Frankfurt and everything was smooth... I don't have any scenery installed in North America yet, but UTX and GEX USA. Does anyone has any idea why my FSX only lags in New York? I've also tried to deactivate all the addons in the scenery library to see if there was any change, but no... Cheers
September 23, 201213 yr FSX tends to lag in New York because of the scenery level present for 1.) The buildings in the city of Manhatten. 2.) The location of 3 major airports within a very close radius (KEWR, KJFK, KLGA) New York is famous for being a frame rate hog in FSX (and even FS9) because of all the 3d modeling for the autogen and custom buildings, and if you have AI airliner traffic turned on, all that AI traffic will use up processor resources for drawing the traffic and also for managing the flight activity of those AI aircraft behind the scenes. You won't find the level of scenery and AI activity present in the New York area anywhere else in Flight Simulator, and therefore, other areas will have less or no stutters/lag. A.J. Domingo
September 23, 201213 yr Author Sure but if the problem was that, I guess I wound't have an average of 35fps in KLGA and KJFK with and addon aircraft, like the PMDG 737NGX. If load a default aircraft the FPS increases dramatically. I also tried removing the AI traffic, cars, boats and still the same. every 10 seconds, the image stops (even the mouse stops responding) and the continues!

I see you have UTX installed and that can sometimes create stuttering as there are many more roads, railroads, and water in this area. So, to make sure it's not UTX, you should disable this utility or, in the Setup utility, click on FSX and modify settings or look at the performance report. September 23, 201213 yr That could be your graphics card, if your graphics card is a bit old, it will microstutter at FPS heavy places, this used to happen to me too. It maybe that your GPU is too old for NYC.

There was an overall improvent, as I have only UTX USA installed in the North America region, I got even more FPS but the stuttering is still there! Is it worse than Seattle? A lot... I just have this issue in NY! Really dunno why TBH! I have around 50fps with the A320 from Wilco... I see that you got references to FSDreamTeam, make sure that you got the very latest version of their addon manager installed, as old versions can cause the stuttering you are describing. The stuttering will only happen in the vicinity of FSDreamTeam airports (actually, it can also happen in the vicinity of Cloud9 airports as well, as Cloud9 uses the same addon manager), even if you dont have that particular airport installed. So you would get stuttering around the New York area, Chicago area etc. vatsim s3
September 25, 201213 yr TextureMaxLoad should equal the default of 6 and no higher than 12. Yours is 30. Don't know why you disabled ProcSpeed as that is a default line item and will be rebuilt when you restart FSX. I see it was and your ProcSpeed is a little higher now. Can't see anything other than the TextureMaxLoad setting. I heard anything about 12 is taking up a lot of processing power. I would return it to 6. September 25, 201213 yr As you pan around FSX has to load *massive* amounts of data into VRAM. This causes the stuttering you are seeing. The only potential solution is to increase the amount of VRAM you have and also how quickly data can be loaded into it. IOW: get a PCI-e 3.0 graphics card with at least 2GB VRAM running at a very high speed. Fast system RAM helps too.
