July 1, 200421 yr Hey guys... The other day I had the FSGS System Unification service done, and as a result, I have a whole new sim. Making videos is much easier now... it was easy before but as you'll see in these videos, compared to my previous videos, I have a much better clarity, file size, and smoothness ratio. In other words, if you compare these (especially the A320 video) to my other videos I have posted, you'll notice same or better clarity in the videos for a smaller file size (smaller file size is usually a result of lower quality settings) So, despite the lower quality settings, they still look as good or better than before... Additionally, in the A320 video in particular, you'll notice a big improvement in framerates. Anyways, enough rambling... here they are!A320 Landing and Marshalling to Gatehttp://idratherbeflying.net/Videos/A320LND.wmv7.07 MB2:14Aero Commander 680 and Beech Twin Bonanza Cruisinghttp://idratherbeflying.net/Videos/AC680BTB.wmv6.05 MB0:48
July 1, 200421 yr Hi Todd,When click on the link I get lots of gibberish..and not able to down load. Thanks
July 1, 200421 yr Hiya Todd :)I think you have just convinced me that I don't need the services of FSGS. Yours are the first movies I have seen made by someone who has availed themselves of their services and the results achieved don't seem to be any better than I have managed to achieve tweaking and twonking my own 'puter. There is always that doubt in the back of all our minds that we aren't getting the best out of our systems so its great to see what other peoples systems can do and compare them. Thanks! Keep them coming! http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/smil...ilethumbsup.gifHere are a couple of movies I whacked together recently, both filmed over Swiss Pro, one in fair weather, the other in great big thunderstorm I was chasing across the alps!Requires Windows Media Player (.wmv)[a href=http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/md500/movies/md500_blue_high.wmv]Little Blue - High Quality 29MB[/a][a href=http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/md500/movies/md500_blue_low.wmv]Little Blue - Low Quality 13MB[/a][a href=http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/md500/movies/md500_thunder_high.wmv]Chasing Thunder - High Quality 10MB[/a][a href=http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/md500/movies/md500_thunder_low.wmv]Chasing Thunder - Low Quality 5MB[/a]
July 1, 200421 yr Great videos Todd as usual. I really enjoy all that you have posted. I can definately see the difference in the clarity of you Airbus video with your earlier videos. The trees etc are much more clear.I used their service back in January and I don't regret it one bit. Janey, your videos are also outstanding. The quality is outstanding.
July 1, 200421 yr Hi,Todd, your videos are great. I'd rather watch those than TV. I noticed that most videos are *.wmv format which work great in Windows Media Player. I've tried some *.avi videos and they don't work - message says something about a "missing codec." I know next to nothing about multimedia so I just avoid the *avi videos. Could you shed some light on what's going on with the "codec" message? Thanks.Tom:-hmmm
July 1, 200421 yr Hi guys@ todd:Great videos, I don't know why some of us simmers love to see wing views, I personally feel that they provide us with the feeling of what our Virtual pax is experiencing as we fly the AC.@ flightplan:What is the service you guys are talking about? Thanks.
July 1, 200421 yr Janey...With regards to "Little Blue"... That is an incredible piece of work. I was playing it on Windows Media Player in a a dark room and at full screen with the volume "cranked" (as I like it), and it is fabulous. Naturally, I saved myself a copy and immediately looked up the song on the Internet to find out more about it.I sometimes do DJ work at a private club, utilizing a DLP projector for effect (using visualizations), and most the people know I am also a FS freak.Needless to say....Great job, great taste, and great imagination !It could, AND SHOULD, become a Flight Simmers Classic. Bob (Lecanto, Fl)On an unrelated note, my last name is Thune. My fathers family added the "e" at the end to make the name pronouce better (like, Boone). Just north of Thun, Switzerland is Lake Thun. Your ending sure looked a lot like that lake.
July 1, 200421 yr What exactly did FSGS do to your system and how did they do it? Remote access?ERic AND
July 1, 200421 yr Hiya Eric :)I am not sure exactly what they do or how they do it but I have a fair idea. http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/smilies/wink.gif The guys at FSGS are just 'puter experts with years of experience at tweaking, twonking and optimising systems. If you can't be bothered to spend ages learning all the tricks and playing around yourself then they offer the perfect solution. They have plenty of happy customers who I'm sure would be only to happy to tell you how they weave their magic! Its been discussed to death in all the forums so I wont dabble on it any more!
July 1, 200421 yr FSGS System Unification? Now that's a mouthful.Though they are a useful service for people who don't want to (for whatever reason) go through the hassle of tweaking and changing settings for FS to run optimally.
July 1, 200421 yr Thanks Bob http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/smil...ilethumbsup.gifThat is indeed Thun! I will be out there in a few weeks time as part of my summer hols! Have you ever been to Switzerland? Although Swiss Pro does a good job of replicating the scenery it is even better in "real" life!
July 1, 200421 yr Author Hi guys... thanks for the comments. I can't give you very specific details on how the service is done, because each one is highly personalized, based on the customer's computer... and one computer's settings could totally screw up another's... but what basically goes on is you and a person from FSGS, Michael Greenblatt. Changes are made to your system according to what hardware setup you have. He walks you through making many changes that, with each little software change, increases not just your FS2004 performance (FSGS's specialty is Flight Sim) but all of your graphics intensive games. Quite impressive stuff!Janey, really nice videos... looks like I've got some tough competition! :-lol Not fair though... I dont have any nice scenery like that! I dont know whether to say sorry or you're welcome about you not needing the services... I'm sure there are people out there that really have been able to tweak their systems really well... But I havent, and most people out there havent... and I saw that the $60 really would be worth it if he could work his magic on my system as well as I've heard him do... and he has. He did it with a really friendly, lets-have-fun-doing-this attitude. Anyways... I'm off to make some more videos today... see you all around!
July 1, 200421 yr Hiya Todd...You should be saying you're welcome! The more information people get the better! Nothing to be sorry about! :) Making great movies has nothing to do with the scenery available unless of course the movie sets out to show off that scenery! Very often I have found that when making a movie to show off a plane rather than its environment it is far better to just film it out over the ocean which ensures that there is nothing to distract the viewers eye from the centrepiece of the movie and of course helps with those pesky frame rates! The example I have provided below is of a repaint I did and I think you will agree that the plane is very much the star of the show!Movie making has provided me with a great creative outlet for very little financial output and also given me an enormous amount of pleasure something I can see it is giving you! Keep having fun and if you want to swap any movie making tips or tricks let me know! :(Requires Windows Media Player (.wmv)[a href=http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/aerostar/movies/aerostar_kaitak_high.wmv]Spirit of Kai Tak - High Quality 25MB[/a][a href=http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/aerostar/movies/aerostar_kaitak_low.wmv]Spirit of Kai Tak - Low Quality 10MB[/a]
