October 4, 201213 yr Moderator This is an actual message from an old friend of mine (TBM700 owner) concerning a suspected smuggling incident back in 2004: Seized Mad Pastrami! After our 8.5 hours back to Calgary last night we were welcomed by three of Canada's finest Customs officials plus one canine. I don't mind the random, once-per-ten-year checks but this was funny. I had my binder ready with passports, license, photocopies of all relevant documents (in case Barb forgets the originals) and I landed at 8:58pm after giving them a 9pm arrival estimate when we called from Florida so this should be a no-brainer inspection. Did they care for any of that? No, they seized the one Pepino's restaurant pastrami sandwich that I hadn't consumed apparently in a weak attempt to respond to similar meaty issues on the US side of the border. After the inspector made some important calls back to HQ, he decided to release said sandwich as it didn't exceed the amount I was allowed to bring in to Canada. I'll complain to the restaurant about those small portions. After 3 inspectors and the dog were finished with it, I asked if the dog wanted it. The inspector told me it wasn't an Agriculture dog, he was a drug dog and wasn't interested in food. They left and told me not to come in so near to closing time. I learn so much from these exchanges. Soon, Twinkies will be the only safe food to carry across the border. Can't wait! Fr. I had a very short layover in Phoenix before the long ride to Hawaii after a flight from Boston. I only had time to grab a burrito at a fast-food place before boarding, knowing there wouldn't be anything worth eating on the plane. They let me on with the burrito, but siezed the packets of salsa. Man, what was in that stuff, anyway? Sure glad I didn't eat it.
