September 30, 201213 yr I see that i loose oil (hyd and engine) during a flight. What should i do with rhis information? Sometimes i get to around 68% in one of the hyd sys. Is this normal?
September 30, 201213 yr Hi there, please sign your posts with your name as per the forum rules. Also please search the forum as this was brought up a few times, basically you will gradually lose hydraulic fluid and oil over time and will need to top up, so it is normal, it is also normal to see a big hydraulic level drop when the gear is up. September 30, 201213 yr Author Hi bryan. Thx for your help. I have seen the other posts, but im little comfused. Do i need to fill the oil somehow? Do ijust wait for the 250hour maintanence? Giora ivshin
September 30, 201213 yr You will see different hydraulic quantities depending on what surfaces are extended/retracted/gear up/gear down. Play with the flight controls, flaps, and gear and take notice of your hydraulic quantity! Probably the only aircraft in FS that accurately simulates this. Patrick Houghton
October 1, 201213 yr Hi bryan. Thx for your help. I have seen the other posts, but im little comfused. Do i need to fill the oil somehow? Do ijust wait for the 250hour maintanence? Giora ivshin Currently you can refill the hydraulic quantity through the Failure Menu in the FMC, look for HYD SYS FLUID REFILL, dont remember where in there it is. The only way to refill the Oil level on the engines though is to do the maintenance on the engine. The engine hours will reset but the oil level will also be restored. October 1, 201213 yr to simplify all, there is a voice in the fmc, pmdg section, called "service all" and will return all levels to the optimal qty. As other told you, hyd quantity in the reservoirs changes depending on the user usage, as you know an hyd actuator can extend or retract, when it extends the fluid goes into it, this lowering the levels. The big users are the landing gears, spoilers, brakes, slats. All the levels must be checked and refilled on ground in a clean configuration (no flaps and no spoilers). For the engines, the qty levels are valid only after few minutes from shut down. Risks: An engine running out of oil will probably explode or will be permanently damaged as oil is used as a coolant and lubrification for some elements including the engine bearings. For the hydraulics, missing oil in the reservoir will stopthe surfaces powered by it to move, primary controls are still operable manually, but you will lose other things like spoilers, slats and rudder (if also stby hyd is empty) and brakes (if the brake accumulator is not pressurized). October 4, 201213 yr Just as an addition as I read through the forums: The AirBerlin 738's are refilled with 4-6 litres of oil each night during the nightly check. The airplanes fly for 16-20h a day with turnaround times like 1h - 3h (lunch break). No meaning whether this is simulated as I don't have the addon.
