July 5, 200421 yr Personally I think the Fly! II panels are the most immersive panels I've seen, and ditto on their quality.I don't mind having to scroll to find what I need in those, and frankly just looking at them is a pleasure. The only thing I can think of that would be ideal would be a high-resolution VR headset in a 3d cockpit, but that ain't gonna happen for some time. July 5, 200421 yr Author I vote for #1 also. I've always been intrigued by ultra-realistic panels in that they replicate the actual panel as close as possible. Since my RL job has involvement with FAA Level "D" full flight simulators I'm kinda spoiled by ultra realism :)The FlyII panels were excellent with fairly elaborate systems simulation. I agree that smaller gauges make the sim more difficult to use, especially for folks with smaller monitors and lower resolutions, but there are ways to "display" the gauge reading using the popup when the cursor hovers over the dial that are acceptable to me. Besides, most pilots don't actually read the number on dial/needle gauges since the majority are expecting a needle position rather than the specific value. Of course digital gauges are another matter.I haven't tried all the FS panels out there but the CaptainSim 727 was pretty elaborate and fairly faithful to the actual aircraft. I agree the size of switches, etc. was problematic at times, but the overall sense of realism and the feeling that "this is like the real thing" was satisfying. After all, IMHO simulators should be replicating the real thing as faithfully as possible.I spend most of my time these days with PSS products and enjoy them a lot... but typically find myself wishing there were more systems tasks to perform.Just my $0.02!
