where's the golf course gone!

Featured Replies

Hi all

just discovered a stange one but in the default flight for fsx friday harbour with the default scenery there is a golf and country club to the left of runway 34 san juan I think its called but with the PNW scenery I no longer have it it seems to be fields and roads.

I've checked google earth and it's still there on that.

Is it me or is it the scenery?

Jeroen has pointed out in another thread that Orbx is not Photoreal scenery. I guess that explains why the golf course is missing. Bit of a bummer, I must admit.

Friday Harbor? Using the history line to roll the image back on Google Earth the only significant feature left of Rwy34 is a wood?! Using the time line you can see that it's grown denser over the past 21 years but I don't see any sign of a golf club!

PS Just looked at a "Virgin" copy of FSX that I keep as a back-up for defaults on SWMBO's laptop and I see no golf club at that location. In fact having just looked at Google earth I was surprised just how well FSX has modelled Friday Harbor ....unlike the awful strips if you venture towards Orcas Island.

BTW "Bob" can't play golf...... Yet?

I checked it on FSX and did see the golf course. I'll grab a screenshot for you. Give me a minute.

EDIT

Here you go...

That golf course, btw. it's called "San Juan Golf & Country Club)", does exist in Google Earth, and also in FSX with PNW installed. It's just not West (or "left" , as you said) of 34, but about a mile to the South of the RWY.

Thanks for pointing that out, OE-LAT. I don't have Orbx myself. Would you mind taking a screenshot so I can compare it to default FSX scenery? I'm very much interested in purchasing Orbx PNW.

I think the OP might be talking about the strip (Burden Field Airport) further south of the golf course. If you take of heading east, the golf course it left of it.

I'll do this as soon as possible, bit I'm currently busy with some other things, it'll take some time.

No rush, my friend. Any time that's convenient for you.

I'm sorry, my memory didn't serve right. The OP's right, of course. There's no golf court in ORBX, there are houses and fields.

Florian

No harm done, OE-LAT. Thanks for checking.
