Chuck Yeager breaks sound barrier --- again

Featured Replies

He's still very articulate for being a young 89 years old.

Quite amazing indeed!

Legend.......And what a historic moment, 65 years to the minute.

Cheers

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

But not as well as Fearless Felix !

I was very curious as to how high those balloons can go, unmanned. I think the record altitude is 172,000 feet, give or take. Quite amazing. I was flying home to Phoenix one time, and the pilot pointed out a research balloon as we were over New Mexico. It was as bright as the brightest star, way above us. Back to Felix, I find myself watching the jump over and over--it's just breathtaking. He really approached the project in the right way--training, training and training again. And taking the two practice jumps so he would know what to expect. I also thought it was awesome that Kittinger was part of the project--that he was humble enough to help Felix break his own records speaks a lot for the man.

John

Chuck Yeager was one of my inspirations growing up! He was fearless and had the swagger it took to pioneer things that we use in aviation today! Good to see him still at it.

Thanks, O. Skinner
