How to get Shade working with P3D - Solution

Featured Replies

Hey all!

Had a little bright moment a couple of days ago, finally got around getting Shade to work for P3D. So this

would work given that you have the following:

- FSX

- REX for FSX

- Shade for FSX

- P3D up and running

- and 5 minutes :)

So here are the steps to follow to get this working!

- Start by installing the desired sky textures that you want with Rex into fsx.

- Then open Shade GUI and select the desired Shadow effect that you would like

- Go to the "Set and Forget" tab in Shade and Set and forget it ;)

It seem to me that shade inserts shadow values into the sky texture files in fsx, that`s what got me thinking that this

might work, looking at the interface in Shade where you can see the shadow values if you click on each texture

there. but anyways, now lets put it into P3D!

- Go into your fsx texture folder Flight simulator X/Texture and copy all textures that start with Sky (BMP and DDS files)

- Now go to Prepar3D/Texture and paste, overwrite when asked!

- Start up P3D and take an evening flight and let me know if it works for you!

Hopefully it should look something like this!

If you wish to make backups you can, but strictly speaking, a bakcup isn`t needed, just go into Rex and install sky textures

without running shade and copy them into P3D! :)

Hope this all works for you P3D flyers out there! :)

Cheers!

I don't know about you, but with the Migrator, I got the Shade working inside of seconds after installation. There was no copying or modding of any kind required!

Haven't tried it yet, but if I do, I'll let you know.

The enb mod dll seems to be incompatible with Prepar3d.exe, but good luck!

Are there any side-by-side before and after photos of Shade in P3D. It seems that L.M. has done a pretty good job enhancing the landclass textures already. If Shade can make that better then I am interested.
