October 24, 201213 yr Hi I've tried reading around this forum and I've downloaded the "How-To Doc" and quickly read through it. I just have a couple of questions. What does DX10 add? What's performance like? I think I saw it should be better then DX9 right? Any other tips I should know before diving in? Thanks everyone Lee
October 24, 201213 yr Gotta read this one, Lee:- http://forum.avsim.net/topic/388715-i-cant-believe-its-not-butter/ Copy your existing fsx.cfg somewhere, probably rename it "DX9_fsx.cfg", then make your changes to the original, based upon what you've read, and then come back here and attach the file as "fsx.txt" - then we can go over it, and see what may need to be changed, if anything. The harder nut to chew, though, is your proc speed and GPU: according to your PC Specs - your proc is running at 3.4 gig. This is pretty slow for FSX, and I would suggest you get it up to somewhere over 4.0 gig. The 2500K should manage this without any problems, and will make FSX fly (no pun intended). What will be the stumbling block for you, is that 6450.... unfortunately - it's a "bottom of the heap" card, and it won't allow that proc to show you what it can do. FSX is responds extremely well to high processor speeds but it must also be matched with a comparable "ranged" gpu - such as the Nvidia 560Ti or better..... :( Such as it is - I hope this helps.. pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 24, 201213 yr Author Thanks I'll read that. I haven't updated my specs. Im planning on oc to 4 ghz. My gpu is a 560ti now Thanks Lee
October 24, 201213 yr Big jump! You're going to be impressed! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 25, 201213 yr Hi all, Two questions and they are: (1) I have downloaded the Ken Salter's "AlacrityPC" and installed it. The questions is: when I installd it, the program kills as many of the un-needed processes as possiable. Does this happen each time you run FSX? (2) When re-booting the computer than all the processes start to run as normal? Les lh
October 25, 201213 yr Yep - exactly that, Les! We can go over the settings and verify that today - tentatively around noon, if that's ok with your good self? Alacrity stops the processes/services prior to launching the default app, then when you close that default app - it will restart them again. You don't have to reboot the pc. We'll set it up to launch TIR as the default app to start, then setup EZCA to launch with FSX, then setup a bat file to allow or prevent EZCA from launching, as it's not always desirable to run EZCA. :hi: pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 25, 201213 yr Thanks Paul, I won't have the TIR until this Friday or Saturday, it is comig in the mail. I didn't get EZCA, instead when I ordered everything I ordered A2A AucuSim.. I will more than likely use TIR for the time beeing. You can't run the two at the same time, meaning A2A AcuSim and EZCA? looked at the EZCA and you have to set each airplane up to use ir and that is where the pain comes in? I don't have anything other than look over the fsx.cfg file and the inspector settings. Let me know what you think about contacting each other @ noon today. Oh, that was Zoolander that I had talked to on TeamSpeak yeasterday, really plesent person to talk to. You know Paul this is the main reason that I am here, because everyone wants to help in the worst way and they come across shinning in my opinion. We will more than likely get lunch at noon but should be back around 1PM CST. Let me know your thoughts and will talk later. Les :hi: lh
October 25, 201213 yr OK.. no problems - one is fine.. we can have a general chinwag. AccuFeel isn't a patch on EZCA. There is a small repetetive "bump" on the ground, brake squeal, touchdown tire screech, some excellent wind noise enhancement, but it's definitely not a replacement for EZCA. You can't run the two at the same time, meaning A2A AcuSim and EZCA? looked at the EZCA and you have to set each airplane up to use ir and that is where the pain comes in? You run both at the same time. TIR allows freedom of head movement, so that you can physically move your head around - to look out of the window: to lean over and turn on a floor-mounted fuel cock: to look up at the overhead panel - just as in the Bowerman clips. The bouncing around and movement, as this one - is most realistic. Aircraft do move around! Yep - friend Zoo is a great guy: good site, well run, very professional, with some fun trips to fly as the need presents: 'later :hi: <--- Great li'l feller, ain't he! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 27, 201213 yr To all of the DX10 simmers out there..... For those that don't have DX10, TIR and EZCA YOU are missing the whole flight sim experience. I am very fortunate to be able to get both and even more to have great gentleman from Canada PJ to help me set it up and get it running!! :yahoo: Last evening I flew using the setp and was wrapped,up in what I could do and what I could see without useing the hat switch!! I was totally amazed with the TIR and flew past 12 midnight and.at 68 I am now in my second child hood, my wife told me I never got out of my first one yet.... As soon as I can control my head movements like Paul J I will make a video. From now on I will not be useing the hat switch on the joy stick!! LONG LIVE THE TRACKIR!!! AND THE GREAT HELP FROM AVSIM.. YOU ARE A REDNECK WHEN YOU WATER COOL YOUR RIG AND WRAP ALL OF YOUR COMPUTER CONPONANTS IN A ZIPLOCK BAG AND SUBMERGE IN INTO A 50 GALLON BARREL, NOW YOUR A REDNECK :LMAO: Les :hi: SEE YA LATER lh
