October 26, 201213 yr Is it possible to assign alpha numerics other than "1" or "2" to the Menu Selection 1 and Menu Selection 2 options ? The letters "c" and "v" were not recognized after assignment (and restarting RCV4 and FSX). Thank you, Ken Boardman Ken Boardman

October 27, 201213 yr Author Hi JD, I have also tested "j" and "k", and "m" and "n" for assignment to 'Menu Selection 1" and "Menu selection 2" and they are unresponsive also. The correct (assigned) letters appear in the in-cockpit RCV4 semi transparent menu but when I press the assigned key, nothing happens. FYI, only FSX and RCV4 are running and I've carefully verified that the assigned keys are not assigned elsewhere (esp. FSX). Also I have restarted FSX and RCV4 after each key set reassignment. The numbers 1 and 2 will work normally when reassigned; however I'd like to use letters for the first two Menu Selection items if possible. Best regards, Ken Ken Boardman
October 27, 201213 yr Are you testing with a default aircraft that does not use hotkeys of its own for avionics/instrumentation? FMC's and some nav displays come to mind.
October 27, 201213 yr Author Yes Ron. Tested the c and v keys with the FSX default 747. I also swapped the 8 and 9 keys with the 1 and 2 keys; and the 8 and 9 keys worked normally in the 1 and 2 keys' spot. Seem to only have problems getting letter keys to work in the "Menu Selection 1" and "Menu Selection 2" spots. BTW, I'm running RCV4 on a laptop connected to FSX via WideFS, though I don't know why that would make a difference ~ Thanks for responding, Ken Ken Boardman
October 28, 201213 yr I have assigned the = key to the repeat function without a problem. Program value wise that is not treated as a numeric and works for me. Have you tried different cases for the letters?
October 29, 201213 yr Author Hi Ron, Thank you for the tips. I reached my objective by assigning Ctrl + 1 and Ctrl + 2 to the Menu Selections 1 and 2. Sure wish I'd tried those key combos earlier. Now in addition to communicating with RC, I am able to use the FSX default pushback feature to back left and right. Had to delete the two key combos from their FSX default key assignments of course, but they were items I never use the keyboard for anyhow. Best regards, Ken Ken Boardman
