Constant activation after upgrading to Windows 8

Recommended Posts

I've upgraded from Win7 64bit Home Pre. to Win8 64 bit Pro. Now I get activation window every time I start Active Sky. I found similar topic in these forum, but it's for SSD device with same problem. I don't have SSD. Anyone with same problem?

Best to put a ticket in on that since the OS is so new.

Kinda sorta.

Does Win 8 have any compatibilty modes?

Good suggestion, tnx. Yes it has. I've tried it and it works. Then I closed it and started in "normal" Win8 mode and it doesn't asked me any more.

No, correction. Going back to normal win8 mode doesn't work. Must stay in Windows 7 compatibility.

Not much help from me, sorry.

I always wait a few months before investing in 'new' O/S as it can take a while for developers to update their software. It's not an easy task.

Hi,

We've had a few similar reports and we are working on addressing this. If you haven't yet, please do open a support ticket (http://support.hifitechinc.com) and we'll be able to send you a test build. Thanks!

@damocles: Yes, it's safe side by waiting. I went to cheaper side, since I bought Win8 upgrade for 29€ + get upgrade from Home to Pro and get Media Center Pack for free. In few months price will be higher.

@Damian: I've opened it (#CPC-347-37968) and sent you a log file created by your instruction.

Having similar problem, locked out permanently of the online portion now. Repeated activation requests, running Windows 7, and 2 500GB Caviar Blacks in Raid 0.

I really just want to express my frustration at yet another instance of some whacked out online activation making it harder for legitimate users to access the product they paid for. This is happening for me on Windows 7, just after a Java update. It was working just fine a couple of days ago. I do not know if the guys on the development side of the issue have changed anything server side, but if they did they should start looking there. I've opened a ticket, downloaded the temporary update. Now it just repeatedly asks me to activate and tells me (repeatedly) that the product has already been activated several times. I've tried running the licence reset program to no avail. Very frustrated.

Did you contact developer? They are very helpful and eager to nail down the problem.

Yes, i have and provided DXDiag files and log files etc. It just frustrates me to no end when anti piracy features cause me problems.

Sorry, I believe I didn't read your post carefully. Yes, this is unfortunate. It seems that pirates always find a way around, when legitimate users have problems. In practically every software.

The 4622 update fixed the issue for me once they unlocked my license. It only asked for activation 1 time.
