Need help with Water Textures

Featured Replies

OK guys idk if this is the right spot to post about issues but I couldn't find one, So here I am.

My issue: I just bought this comp with windows 7 64 bit and installed FSX. It handles max settings just fine and was running good when i set it up.

I then ran into issues trying to get onto VATSIM and read that having the game installed in the (x86) program files wasn't a good choice so i Uninstalled FSX and re-installed it outside of that file. Then the nightmare of problems began.

Long story short I did a system restore to get a fresh start and re-installed FSX in the default file. (Program files x86)

Now my water textures are basically not there, flying along the ocean shore and looking at the horizon you can even tell where the sea meets the atmosphere. Included is a picture of my textures. If anyone can shed some light on this please let me know. and if you have any questions feel free to ask!

EDIT: forgot to mention it only happens when the water texture settings are low-high 2.x

when they are low-high 1.x they don't have that matte look. And when i select "Preview Directx 10" the water looks normal but makes my taxiway/runway textures look off

Both images removed. Exceed the 400KB limit. Your images were 525KB and 1.25MB.

Maybe you missing some texture files? Try the repair function on your FSX cd.

Try to delete SHADERS folder in c:\Users\PD\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

x:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\

or

x:\Documents and Settings\yourname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\

Not only the water is bad but also the land textures. Make sure you have the 32 bit resolution set and not the 16 bit. Turn on AntiAliasing and Antrostropic too. Your graphics are horrible!

Best regards,

Jim
