Well, now I guess now or never is a good time to fly in some real life hurricane conditions.

First before anything, I hope everyone stays safe on the east coast. I wish more people would listen to evacuations and curfews, yet I see people see out and about. Not thinking you might be putting rescuers at risk unecessarily. Not to mention their families worrying.

 

On the plus side, just flew from KORD to KEWR with opus fsx engine and my trusty MD11, and i have to say wow. Pretty darn close! and nasty! Made the runway with minimums but just barely. The visibility was terrible. Wind was blowing pretty good too.

Only thing I noticed is that arriving into the area at around 10000 was kinda scatterd and broken cloud. then it updated to overcast and became crazy . Makes me appreciate the pilots who fly into bad weather that much more.

Tbh visibility is pretty good around ewr. Considering its a hurricane...

The wind is killer. Not sure if you're virtual FDX but if you are all Nj locations are closed. No outbound and nothing tomorrow. Long layover!!

I have posted an OpusWeather.zip file on the FS9 Compatibility topic containing two static weather themes generated by the OpusFSX LWE. I have no idea what the wider area weather is like but one captures the weather at JFK and the second later theme captures some isolated thunderstorm weather at EHAM this morning.

If you do not have OpusFSX feel free to take a look at the themes, as I said, I have not vetted them just zipped them and posted them for FS9 users to have a go and load them. Sorry, I forgot to capture the METAR for JFK, but after loading theme 2 please use the ATIS to compare.
