November 1, 201213 yr Commercial Member Thanks Kyle, I've just got your guide and it's great. Thanks Steve! BTW, if anyone has an idea of another tutorial for something, PM me. I'm all about writing. It's my job, I'm clearly way too active here, and as if I didn't have enough, I have a relatively active blog, too...sad, I know. Kyle Rodgers
November 4, 201213 yr For US charts : skyvector.com not only can you plan your own stuff - instead of a copy/paste from other sources, but it will give you all the charts you need, including sid/stars and approach plates. On selecting altitude, using what you find in flightaware or the like may not be good for your flight for many reasons, the most important that the winds may not be favorable for your flight. So pick your cruising altitudes based on the Wx for your flight and not the Wx from the past. Frank Otero
November 4, 201213 yr Author Wow! Thank you all for your incredibly detailed, helpful responses and site suggestions! Unfortunately, just when I thought I was going to have some free time to do some J41 flying/learning, the pace of my school classes (three of which are college courses) began to pick up and I need to begin preparing for my PPL checkride in December. However, I should have time this Christmas to fly the J41 and get accustomed to it, and when that time comes i will definitely look back at this thread for guidance. Thank you all! hamoody
