July 17, 200421 yr I'm trying out FS Flight Keeper and would like to hear your views on the product before I register FS Flight KeeperAnyone using it with FS2002 & FS2004 ?Thanks for any views on this product !Scott
July 17, 200421 yr I use the product and am quite pleased with it. The only down side I found is that when I activate it (and maybe this is just something on my system) the CPU usage rises quite dramatically. However I run it via wideFS on a separate networked PC. I have never run it on the PC that actually runs flight simulator. Apart from that it works very well. I even use it to decode Activesky weather reports.Pesi
July 17, 200421 yr I Agree with Pesi, I use it with FS2004, constantly. It's fantastic to be able to go back and look at previous flights and compare them. The amount of data recorded is Stagering.I also use it via WideFS on a second PC, and as he said, it's a resource Hog, so for me it's not a problem. I've also tried using it on an FSim PC (PIII-1GHZ) and the sim was still flyable, and we know that's not exactly a speed demon.Well worth the cash, I know you won't be sorry.
August 31, 200421 yr Hi Scott,I've been looking at the Flight Keeper site, and will probably try it out. I'd be grateful to hear your experiences with the product. I will be using it on a single PC running FS, so need to know if it will degrade performance?I'd also like to know how well the flightdeck ACARS gauge works to give you access to FSFK?Thanks,Frank
August 31, 200421 yr >I'm trying out FS Flight Keeper and would like to hear your>views on the product before I register FS Flight Keeper>Anyone using it with FS2002 & FS2004 ?>I'm using the trial version with FS2004. One nice thing I like isthe criticism after a flight. But I wonder about complaints like.Beacon off while starting engineLanding light off at takeoff and below FL100 (in full daylaight)What's wrong with switching on the beacons after the engine and whyuse landing light in full daylight and in the air? Most checklistsdon't require this explicitley.
August 31, 200421 yr It's a standard FAA thing to have your landing lights on below FL100 (even in full daylight). That is more of a commercial a/c requirement rather than a GA one. I've had FSFK for about a month now and love it! It gives you so much data regarding your flight. Things like fuel usage at all stages of flight, distances, weights, wx reports, etc. I run it on a single PC (AMD 3200 Athlon XP, 1GB PC3200 DDR-400 RAM, 2 140GB Seagate HDD, via SATA, on RAID 0, with a Radeon 9800Pro graphics card) and have not noticed any significant drops in performance. Again, I love it. Hope this helps, Dana.
August 31, 200421 yr I have been using it since before Aerosoft became involved and think it's great! I have not noticed it using to much of my system resources, ran it on my old design rig and also on my gamning rig, runs great. I agree, the amount of data and info it collects is amazing!I fly for 2 VAs and this helps me keep track of my flight info.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACalVirAir International Best, Michael KDFW
August 31, 200421 yr Had it for over two years now, no problems with my setup. Best I've seen for what it does. Dave Vega dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
August 31, 200421 yr I leave the beacon switch on all the time (in real life). That way if I exit the aircraft and forgot to turn off the masters the beacon will remind me! Also, when I get in the aircraft and turn the masters on before starting the engine it will add additional warning to those around that startup is happening soon. The faa recommends landing lights on within 10 miles of an airport-but of course for some of us who have the landing lights on our landing gear that can be difficult.Hope that answers your question. :-)http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
August 31, 200421 yr >The faa recommends landing lights on within 10 miles of an>airport-but of course for some of us who have the landing>lights on our landing gear that can be difficult.>FS Flight Keeper seem not to care about distance to the airportbut if the height is above or below 10000 feet.Still I find it difficult to understand the point of having theesestrong lights on in daylight.>Hope that answers your question. :-)It does.
September 1, 200421 yr I've got agree with everyone. One of the best add-ons I've gotten. I haven't noticed any impact on framerates either so I would say give it a shot, at least try out the demo and see if it's what you're looking forAustin
