November 9, 201213 yr Hi All, I have been working on this problem for a couple of weeks now and could really use some expert advice. About a month ago I had to admit to myself that the operation on my FSX flight Sim was getting a bit to funky to get straight with small "patch it together fixes being every other day---so after a few days of hand wringing and contemplation I decided to the deal and trash my entire four year old last new installation of FSX and start from scratch BUT!!!---not so fast, said my computer! After my install I found that as I tried the install new sceneries I was running into bit problems--they would not install--ORBX sceneries had all sorts of issues ( I attributed these to ORBX but I am b=ginning to think that the problems might be with remnants of FSX being left around on my computer . I have now done at least six full un-installs and reinstalls of FSX and still cannot load My ORBX Scenery--MY Traffic X would not work--Ultimate Traffic would not work after I gave up on My Traffic---My Mega Scenery does work--My PMDG Planes will install---so some things work and others do not. I am going to do another full un-install of FSX and need advice about important issues related to getting out any and all parts of FSX that might be giving me less the a true clean install of FSX. By the way, all the add-on programs are always done from clean and fresh downloads of those programs ---this is why I fear that something is going wrong with my "New FSX Installations". I offer thanks to anyone who might be able to shed light on this sort of problem. Cheers and all the best! Dorn
November 9, 201213 yr My only thought, not that i think its goin to help much.. But are you installing fsx as admin,(right click the fsx exe and select run as admin - same for the installer exe's for addon stuff) AND outside of program files?? ex: c:\fsx? Take a look in ''Appdata'' file, inside theres a file ''local'' and ''roaming''..there may be stuff left in there to do with fsx. there could also be stuff lying around in your regestry, but i dont know enough about that to advise in any way, i can tell you to run ''regedit'' in order to open the registry, but if any changes are made here make sure you know what your doing. Regards Luke M

If you are going to go through the messy world of uninstalling and reinstalling fsx, I would follow this guide - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx.
