4Gb_patch.exe in FSX?

Featured Replies

I have seen that there is a 4gb_patch.exe available at some sites. Has anyone used it in FSX to get 2 more Gb of memory available with 64 bit systems? If so, does it work without any problems. When I was doing my search I have seen warnings about errors occurring when using the patch and the possibility of getting malware in the exe file. Is there any recommended site to download it that has malware and virus free downloads? Thanks.

You can get the patch straight from the developer's website, its at http://www.ntcore.com/.

That said, you do not need to patch fsx.exe, as it has already been made Large Address Aware since SP2 (or perhaps it was SP1, can't remember exactly, but its not needed for up-to-date installations of FSX)

Thanks to all that have answered my question. I am running WIN7 64 bit and Acceleration. I do not see any entry in my fsx.cfg for large_address_aware or anything like it. Should it be there? If so what is the exact entry.required? Bob.

Acceleration is just an extended version of SP2, and the executable have been made large address aware by Microsoft. The large address aware flag is not set in fsx.cfg, its a part of fsx.exe itself.

Indeed. FSX is already using what it can, full 4GB and that's in. No way to expand this currently.

Hi. OK I learned something new. I got the CFF Explorer and I can see what you stated. Thanks for the heads up. Bob.

Hi. Thanks. Not only did you answer the question but you made me aware of CFF Explorer which I have now installed. Looks like a great program. Bob.
