Some help please? Major weather problems with REX and PMDG 747X

Featured Replies

This has been a long time issue for me now, the PMDG 747 when flown in real world weather with REX it just goes crazy in mid air, large 90 degree S turns, damaging my cargo and injuring my passengers for the VA, I end up disconnecting the autopilot at 35,000 feet and I fly much better than the autopilot did myself. I am absolutely sick of it now. Has anybody found solutions to this problem? Ive got the full version of FSUIPC and have the wind smoothening set but it still does nothing.

Thanks guys, well appreciated :D

That was asked several times already, uncheck turbulences in fsx as well as in REX and try again.

Best of luck,

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. It has nothing to do with REX or PMDG. It's a problem with an inherent problem with FSX. If you don't have Pete Dawson's FSUIPC then buy it and install it. When you run FSX go to the top menu bar under, "Addons", select FSUIPC, then "Winds" and select "Smoothing". Play with it a little bit until you get it right. After FSUIPC makes the adjustment in FSX then go to the REX main folder and turn the options for smoothing etc back on. FSUIPC only effects FSX as I understand it. To the rest of you if you have a problem with any PMDG product that acts in the same manner remember FSUIPC. It will take care of business. This also applies in the same manner for active sky. It's not their individual product it's FSX and is easily taken care of. I might also recommend the following link to fix FSX crashes. Just follow the instructions. All PMDG Beta testers as I understand it use this method.

Hope this helps.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply, anyways what I have done is in the default fsx settings I have disabled the turbulence and heat acting upon the aircraft option or something like that ;) However I have two questions

1) is there a way I can have some "controllable" turbulence act upon my aircraft? Before the whole issue turbulence wasn`t a problem like it was last week and infact made it more realistic

2) what exactly is your wind settings for FSUIPC? I want to have the settings that simulates real world changes as realistically as possible. Few minutes ago I had a direct head wind and in 10 seconds it became a tail wind, it could be possible in the real world but I doubt it (please help justify this statement ;) )

Anyways thanks for the help, sure did make me think this through and gave me the idea to do what I did :D

REX is not a weather engine. It is slightly better then FSX default but... Get AS2012 or that new one people are talking about. I can't remember its name and I haven't tried it myself, but people whos opinions I respect seem to think it is worth trying.

Both REX and Active Sky have released new versions recently, and both are very good. OpusFSX is new, and shouldn't give you any turbulence problems because they don't simulate it yet, only with camera shake. It's planned for an update, and I'm sure it will be optional.

The AS2012 documentation mentions "S turns" under autopilot if turbulence is enabled. In one spot in the docs they say it affects "certain aircraft" and in another spot it says "PMDG NGX". Sounds like others as well. I wasn't aware the problem was that severe. Perhaps PMDG could look at the autopilot code.
