Help! Z fighting clouds

Alright... well I might have screwed everything up... please someone talk me off the ledge.

I just attempted the fix I linked (which seems a very commonly done thing) and when I tried to open the .fx file in question in notepad, every single .fx file in all of my folders switched to 'notepad' files with an adobe acrobat insignia.

I opened FSX and flew around a little while with no noticeable effects, but have I screwed everything up in the long run? Will I be able to edit files anymore? Is there a way to change everything back?

Ack!!

Edit: Upon further review I see that everything are still listed as .fx files after all. However, I still see the adobe insignia next to them all and see no way of opening them with regular ol' notepad.

This may not be the emergency I thought it was, but it still bears fixing! I sure would appreciate anyone's thoughts.

Thanks a lot!

Hi JJ, try this. go into explorer, find an .fx file. rt click on the file.Ould see a selection, Open With.

Click on that. It will give you a list. Select Notepad if available, if not browse to the notepade.exe file in windows.   Then put a tick in the box,

that says always use this program to open this type of file..or  something like that.

Sounds like at some point, you had that always use ticked when opening a similar file with acrobat.  Just reopen with notepad, and it should re-associate

for that type of file.

Hope it helps.

Best,

David

Thanks a lot Dave.  I'll give it a shot.

I've never been so paranoid about messing up a program than I am with FSX! What a stressful hobby this can be!
