November 16, 201213 yr There are plenty of seaplane bases in Alaska... at least, on the Map! But, there is nothing in the scenery to let us know where to land. I was flying from Yakutat towards the North and noticed a seaplane base on the Map. Why not try to land there?, I said to myself. So, just using the Moving Map as a guide, I did! In the Cub, to top it off. And it worked, surprisingly enough. My Pilot Profile incremented both my total landings and unique airports counts. So, I tried again at Sedovia: And, once again, this registered as both an unique airport and another landing. So, from now on, every time I see a seaplane base, I shall "land" there with the Cub! Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
November 16, 201213 yr I haven't had any luck making a water landing count. Too bad MS never finished Alaska.

November 17, 201213 yr Are you actually landing and stopping on the water or just touching your wheels in the water in a flyby?
November 17, 201213 yr Well if he stopped he would sink! And that would just be a crash. I have skimmed the surface like this as well but I never realised it was registered as a landing at seaplane bases. I`ll have to give this a go. Of course to be absolutely certain of getting the landing count up you could just use the Icon.
November 19, 201213 yr I've been using this technique for a while now at seaplane bases, after I read references in other threads to "water skiing" with the Cub, and both the landings and unique airports counts are incremented. I may be mistaken, but I don't believe you need to come to a stop (on land or sea) to chalk up another landing - just don't crash. - Peter C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bob_and_Ray_Show
November 20, 201213 yr I have been using the Icon at a lot of seaplane bases with very mixed results. They seem too big to miss, but you have to touch down in a specific zone I guess? I am going to try your touch and go technique with the Cub. Thanks.
