Heading or Track on the ND?

Featured Replies

I like Heading up mode - gives me a better picture of our crab into the wind. Plus I vector myself on every approach if ATC is not available - so works out better for me. I love on the 777 how you can change it simply by a button in the MCP; rather than digging it up in the CDU.

I thought track was used as SOP and switched to heading when operating near the poles?

That is something different, you are thinking True / Magnetic.

I myself prefer TRK. No specific reason, just feels better.

I like TRK. I find it really helpful when hand flying in a crosswind.
