How to improve even more the performance of FSX?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

The question is, I think I've a reasonable computer, i7 [email protected], ATI HD5879 1GB DDR5, 6GB RAM@1333MHz Tri-Channel and a ASUS P6T SE and I want to buy one thing or another to improve the frames and smoothness in FSX. What it's the most important to change? CPU, Graphics Card... etc.

Does i tvarys from add on to add on, that basic things.

Thank you!

From what I hear.... CPU

Hi Becas22,

My experience has been this..... I have tried every tweak, every "guide," and every compromise I could. The only thing I found that really worked was a full PC upgrade to the best system I could afford. It was an epiphany... My specs are to the left... I spent about $1100 US on it...

It has changed my simming so drastically I can not even begin to say how much...

CPU and MB are your biggest impact... Many work their way up... I saved the money, consulted with my son, and watched a couple of the posters here at Avsim to make my choices and I am glad I did... FSX has never been more smooth, fast, and real to life....

After simming for 14 years.... The overall PC was the biggest part of the experience.

I hope this helps.... Jeff

CPU is the biggest improvement. Speed is what it is all about, a decent overclocakble i5 or i7 at the highest speed you can get 4.5 gig and better, 64 bit win7 to overcome the ram limit issues, 6 or 8 gig of ram is enough. Nvidia supposedly do better due to cloud issues with ATI.

CPU probably , but you should use the Shader Mod for ATI cards as they tend to break performance where clouds are concerned.

OC that CPU , and of course Nvidia works better with FSX.

try the shadermod thing

Becas, IMHO the best thing, as someone else suggested, is the full upgrade. You'll really be amazed what FSX can do when coupled with an SB/IB and GTX680 and fast RAM.

For some tweaking, hardware infos, I suggest you visit my blog, which contains lots of tweaks, but be aware, you have completely wrong hardware for my type of tweaking. But as always, without trying, you'll never know.

if you have a decent mb and fan, i7-920 can run at 4ghz.
