July 24, 200421 yr When I used FS2002 with a Pentium 3/1000 and Geforce2-MX machine, I could not use 32 bits mode as it was too severe on my FPSNow, with FS2004 and a more powerful AMD XP2400, Geforce4-TI4200 machine , I seem to be able to use 32 bits without any FPS hit -- but really I can't see any difference onscreen between the 2 modes. So what do others use and why? Thanks Barry
July 24, 200421 yr I have only used 32bit color resolution for some time. There are some textures that add-on developers use that won't render correctly at anything but 32 bit.CheersBob
July 24, 200421 yr I think all modern cards run native 32-bit. If you ask them to run in 16-bit most need to convert the data, which slows things down and defeats the point. Allcott
July 25, 200421 yr The only difference I have seen are with the aircraft shadows. With 16 bit, the aircraft shadow is black in colour, where as with 32 bit, it's a more realistic grey colour.. I'm sure their are a lot of differneces, but I've never seen them...RJ
July 25, 200421 yr The difference is usually most obvious where you have a subtle change of color displaying accross an area of your screen, during a sunset for instance. With 32 bit the change will be smooth as in the real sky. With 16 bit the color change will happen in steps and the boundry between one shade and the next will be visible, making it look like a cartoon.David
July 25, 200421 yr Hi!I have an Athlon 700 MHZ (256MB) and a Geforce 2 GTS with 32 MBFs2004 works just fine 32 bit. - 15-20 FPS through the bank if you tune down the eye-candy a little bit. You just have to set your Desktop to 32 Bit, also :)There is no Difference in FPS between 16 Bit and 32 Bit.Fox
