JS41 display issue after accessing a FSX menus

Featured Replies

I posted this is the general section, someone suggested I post it in here.

Hello fellow PMDG pilots.  I am having a problems with the display on the J-41 only after accessing any of FSX's menus.  My system was just built a few days ago.

I7 processor

16 GB Ram

OS drive and FS on separate disks

FSX w/ acceleration pack installed

GeForce GT 640 with updated drivers from NVIDIA

This was a clean install, all win 7 patches installed.  No Add-on other the Carendo B200

All default everything else in FSX.

All function on the J41 work until I hit Alt and access any of the menus.  When I click OK to go back to the plane, I get the scenery without any buildings and no cockpit is displayed.  A few times the screen was flashing, kind of like the resolution was set too high.  I just ran a hour flight with no problems.  After shutdown at the gate, I went into the fuel menu to refuel and the problem happened.  The only way to fix it to kill FSX and restart

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Oh I forgot to mention this did not happen to any of the default FSX aircraft. I have reinstalled with the same results.

could be a vid card issue. I have a rig similar to yours also newly built and I had problems right from the start and turns out I was running the default vid card and not the Gt560i

perhaps install the latest drivers to start off.

You are running FSX in fullscreen? Does this happen in windowed mode?

Yes, I am in full screen. I also turned off the icing features in the setup util, still have the issue. You think window mode would help?

Thanks for the reply

Do you have Highmemfix=1 tweak for FSX? Without that you will get all sorts of weird graphical anomalies when running anything demanding. Also I would suggest you try the alternative uiautomationcore.dll fix to help prevent issues with the menus.

If you're not very technically minded, try visiting http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html and it pops a couple of fixes in to your FSX.cfg, see how you get on with it. Not guaranteed to fix your problems but can't hurt to try. Just make sure you back up your FSX.cfg before you start messing with it!

Thanks ckyliu. I maybe close to calling this fixed! The highmemfix and DLL replacement didn't work on their own. However using the venetubo online config tool seems to have worked. In addition I added the TrackIR software that had to use some resources. After applying the new cfg, I flew around in the JS41 for about an hour and half and click just about every menu without a single mess-up. Now i'm off to clean up my landing a little (with fingers crossed)

Thanks for the help folks!!
