What to do with all the possibilities?

Featured Replies

Since a few weeks I changed from old-fashion modem communication to ADSL and built a network with the three PC's and a laptop that are in my home. Furthermore my fastest PC (CPU 3.0, RAM 1024 MB, GF 5900) can run two monitors with his dual head video card. With this last feature I already have some months of experience, but now I am thinking about expanding the flightsim experience. So obviously WideFS comes to mind and several other modules and add-ons. My problem is though that I am not sure what WideFS et al can do exactly. What would you do with my hardware setup? I would appreciate every suggestion.Herrie

Herrie,I use WideFS on my secondary computer and wouldn't want to be without it anymore! On this secondary computer I run (via WideFS) Radar Contact 3, weather program(s), FS Flight Keeper, display flight plans, airport diagrams and all sorts of other things. Basically, a stand alone FS add-on can run on a separate computer via WideFS.If your fastest computer has two monitors, use them! I drag as many sub-panels there as possible, depending on the aircraft I am flying. For example, in my MAAM DC-3 I drag the overhead panel over to the secondary monitor to sit there throughout the flight. Cowl flaps and landing gear sub-panels are also on the secondary monitor, opened when I need them. And it gets even better with a complex aircraft like RFP B-742... :)Regards,Jurehttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Captain.jpg

Jure's post answers what Widefs can do Herrie, what it can't do is give you another instance of FS for outside view etc.I would suggest looking at Wideview and perhaps Widefs.Wideview synchronises FS on different PCs and is used to give multiple outside views so you could, for instance, use your 3 PCs for centre, left & right cockpit views, use the extra monitor for instruments or pedestal and use the laptop with Widefs for real weather, charts, or if you fly on line use it for SB & RW/AVC.Maybe you'll get more inspiration from the various home cockpit sites.
